    Hi there,

Like many of you I was tempted by this idea:

buy the Mk2 controller at a reduced price for people that already own Maschine and don't want to pay full price or twice for the software!

I have sad news for those that were hoping.

Here is the official answer from NI support:

I don't get it. You've had an official responce? You want an official responce? (You think starting this thread will get an official responce?).

Sorry man, I clicked by error on send before my message was finished. I have made an edit and now you can read the full message.

I thought it would be nice to let everyone know what NI has stated regarding this request.

Oh well, it doesn't look that much different from the current one anyway...

with apologies to coldmachine who also reported this.

okay this is not an official NI statement.

until it is clearly stated on the NI website and/or Keir has made an official statement on this forum, then as far as i am concerned, this is not official.

i have sent Keir an email about this, so i hope we will get some official clarification a.s.a.p.

obviously, that is not going to happen tonight.

    again apologies to coldmachine.

Thanks for the heads up Sowari

I for one couldn't imagine NI stiffing us like that, and if they do I will be very disappointed.

To be honest it wouldn't surprise me one little bit. You generally don't get cross grades on hardware. The only one I can think of off the top of my head is Avid with their HD systems but that's a whole different level (and more importantly price range). Maschine is pretty cheap.

Not necessarily. I know quite a few cases where support got it wrong, sorry to say...

    __________
    edit-
im waiting for a response from ni tech service regarding a bug in the audio thread:
massive-1.3.1 and fm8-1.2.1, both in 64 bits, crashes in standalone and plugin.

i hope they do their job.

    Hi Sowari,

Okay, I get it, the support crew may not have the latest intel from NI since it is such a big company.
But if Paulo from NI support wasn't sure, he should have said so and asked me to wait to get confirmation on this issue.

But you are right, iit's not the highest level of official info. I hope we will be quickly given heads up on that.

So I'll wait for the real official response with the NI stamped wax still attached to it!:D

well that is what i would have hoped, but for some reason that was not the case. and this is not the first time

it is no where near the highest level.

lets hope we get an official statement soon.

unfortunately this can take much longer than any of us would like - and that has happened before as well :(

Indeed Support and other departments do not seem to always be on the same page - as is the case with many mid-large companies. Lets wait a bit and see. While I will not pay full price for what is essentially new lights and a display - NI might be wise to offer a hardware only option at some time in the future at a substantial discount. This would encourage people to buy extra controllers, Mikro, iMaschine, etc. and use it all on one set of software. If the price was right, it could be good for NI and good for us.

We'll be lucky to get $50 off...after all its common practise ;)

Joking aside i cant see them offering any kind of crossgrade, not sure id take them up on it anyway,
but for others i hope im wrong :(

Seriously? Have you forgotten that about a month ago they offered an amazing cross grade discount on Komplete for all existing Maschine users?

It's a completely different kettle of fish.

It would be very nice though of NI to offer a hardware-only deal for owners of the Maschine Mk1 & Mikro Mk1 models to show their support. After all, these users only need the controller and not the software.

I bet it'd shift a lot more units too! Particularly for Mikro Mk1 owners who bought it as an entry level to Maschine and want to dive in deeper with more controls and the new hardware of the new big maschine.
