Hi all - I can confirm that tech support are correct and that there is no discount or upgrade path for existing Maschine owners.

You're right. If you buy a TV you're investing a lot more money into Sony than you are buying a Maschine from NI. According to the rationale many people on this forum seem to follow, that would make you a much more "loyal" customer. ;)

im happy to pay cos my controller is got nuff dead buttons and i loving the look of these new units.

sometimes the athtetics can be so pleasing that it makes u wanna use the equipment more so that is worth it in of itself.

but the rotary controller and colour pads and screen plus style flip is a winning combo.

What happens to people whose hardware breaks out of warranty, Keir? Makes it hard to use the software we've bought.

Actually, no. You'd have 2 sets of controllers with sofware; you could sell one set; which is probably easier than shifting a controller on its own. It's if you could buy a hardware upgrade that you'd be stuck with two controllers.

Hmmm I cant see this going down well at all. To get the new controller I will effectively have to buy a new serial number for the software I already own. I cant really justify shelling out £400+ on a somewhat aesthetically better controller bundled with the 1.8 software update that will work on my original MK1 controller.

i dont understand why they dont make maschine (standalone) compatible with more than one device at the same time.

you can do this inside a daw, with two maschine instances. but mixing in the daw means no-mixing in the maschine instance (in order to mix with the daw tools).

its like a weak point. a proper mixer section would save this step; and make maschine standalone a good solution that lets you rock 2 maschine pads or more at the same time.

a hardware upgrade offer for existing maschine users would invite a lot of people to get another maschine pad. but there is no offer, no mixer and no nothing. just new expansion packs.

Do you mean if I want to get a mk2 controller I have to buy another license of the software ! ?
Fortunally for me I haven't plan to get a mk2 controller :) but I think NI should really takes care about this case.

I dont get this last week there was confirmation not only on here but other sites there would be a upgrade offer to maschine1 users were by you could get the hard ware only for about £300 (give or take for currency conversion)

Im not really bothered about m2 but i know quite a few were buzzin they could upgrade .

But if people really want to upgrade and ni arnt playing ball then you could always try and sell it .

They do actually offer a repair service. I've got a faulty volume encoder and they quoted me €79 to repair it and give the controller a general service.

I haven't actually done it yet as it involves sending them my Maschine and I don't want to be without right now. ;)

Unless you bought an educational version of Maschine MK1.

Unfortunately not. There was the old 'replacement MKI' controller advertised on the NI product page, which caused the speculation you remember, but this was removed.

Sure. Not everything can be repaired though

    BAD MOVE ON NI's part!

Seriously I don't get it. So, are they not going to offer a replacement controller like the MK1 at $399 or whatever it was? Makes no sense. You can buy a Guitar Rig controller upgrade. I just noticed that they removed the replacement controller product page. Ridiculous. This is why I'm using much more hardware these days and less software. You don't own anything. You are renting a tool, and if you want to to gain functions, you have to fork over money. Look at hardware like Elektron. Each firmware update offers new functions, bug fixes. And guess what. You pay once. When you buy it. SO done with this. I think I'll sell Maschine and replace it with an Octatrack to compliment my Machinedrum.

    Bogus.

Even 399 bucks would be too much. Especially considering the fact that you may sell your old Maschine and then buy the new one, which probably would be cheaper as 399...

Personally, I do not care. As long as my Maschine works Im fine. Again people, **** the gear. The music counts, you should have that in mind, always!

good question. to clarify, can users whose Maschine MK1 breaks, purchase a MK2 replacement at a discount?

also, what happens to people who bought a MK1 in the recent sale and it goes wrong and they need a replacement during the warranty period?
