Yep, my only bug bear about Traktor has always been the lack of some cool custom vinyl, whereas the Serato guys seem spoilt for choice. Anyway, is there any out there at the moment?

And NI, please bring back the Fluorescents, and also why can't you limited open source the control tone.....

Yep familiar thread subject. People have been asking for more 'exotic' timecode since forever. There have been a few cool releases - the Skratchy Seal ones are cool, Desolat was awesome. The fluoro where neat.
And of course the ultra-rare 7" timecode was super-duper-cool but only a few lucky folks have a pair of the 7's ;)

I have been yearning for Stussy/NI timecode for years and years (although all the kids are wearing Stussy now ).

The timecode tone is actually copyrighted so anyone wishing to produce Traktor timecode needs to licence it (or get approval etc).

You are correct it is a familiar subject so have never worked out why NI don't do more, as aesthetics is a bit part of what a DJ/Performer/Controllerist does, that bit was more of the usual keep them updated rant...... Still to the question though, are there any cool vinyl out there that are available at the moment? I had a look around and couldn't see any.......I personally think it would be a great idea to make the clear vinyl one sided, then you could put your own sticker on the other side and custom them yourselves.......

Thanks for that, unfortunately custard yellow's not really my thing...... So let's get this straight, if you go to somewhere like Turntable Lab they have a cool selection of at least 20 odd different control vinyl for Serato, where over here we get yellow, and not just any yellow, custard yellow! Christ NI, pull your finger out on this one, this isn't beyond a joke, this is beyond that beyond.....I personally think they would be better of not to charge for the license like Serato does, as this gives scope for DJs and Artist to do one of specials etc...... Open up your license NI and I'll have a nice line of various designs on a website within a month ;) mmmmm, now there's an idea.....

It's not just a licensing issue as such - the timecode is copyrighted so I guess this makes is more complicated than just paying a licence fee and pressing it. Copyright brings is issues of distribution and sales.

We don't actually know if as many companies approach NI to do a collaboration as do Serato but with a lot of big DJ's using NI timecode you would think that it would be a good promotional tool, especially for record companies.

I'd love some timecode by Ninja Tune, Jazzanova, BBE, Tru-Thoughts.

Don't hold your breathe. We've been discussing this subject for years and years.

I don't have much to add about the timecode vinyl but customization is important as Apple is employing with the new IWatch so I say why not NI with simple vinyl? Same goes with the Controller market. Drop some colors! :)
