Just curious if this works or not via a USB-C to USB adaptor, thanks.

I just tested it with both a USB-A to USB-C adaptor, as well as a Lightning to USB-C adaptor, and the Traktor app did not recognize the Z1 with either. Pretty disappointing.

I was getting conflicting info about this, so I decided to try it for myself and ordered a Z1. Yes, the Z1 DOES work with the 2018 iPad Pro 11". I tested using the Apple USB-C to USB adaptor, and initially the iOS Traktor app did not see the Z1. Once I unplugged and replugged it with the app running however, Traktor iOS found the Z1 controller and both the soundcard and knobs/buttons work as expected.

    Whew.

My Z1 ended up being faulty and I had to send it back and get a replacement. The new one however works great, and I no longer need to unplug the Z1 first for the app to recognize it. In fact just plugging the Z1 into the iPad give me this message, and launches TRAKTOR automatically. And it works without the PSU too.

    Mine works fine with a USB-C hub. It's a cheaper (~£7) one, with 1x USB-C charging port, 1x HDMI, and 1x USB-A 3.1

Tarekith, is it able to charge your iPad as well while using the z1 with a USB-C to USB adapter? I’m planning on using the same setup but curious if I need to consider getting a USB-C dock instead that way I can charge my iPad while also using the z1.

I haven't actually paid attention to that to be honest. But I have a gig tonight I was planning on using that set up with the new TDJ2 update, I'll let you know what I find out!

Ok, after a pretty long set last night I can confirm that the Z1 is not charging my iPad while using it. Better life seems to be a little better, but it's still down from 100% to 72% after a few hours use.

    Awesome, thanks for the update.

It sounds like it maybe be providing some sort of benefit even if not a 'charge'. I was playing around with Traktor DJ 2 this morning with a splitter cable (waiting for z1 to arrive) for about an hour and a half or less and my battery went from 100% to 52%. Although this could be due to me having about 2000 songs that haven't been analyzed yet and it was analyzing in the background the whole time I was mixing.

I may look into a usb-c hub that will allow charging then as it seems like this could be useful for other things I use my iPad for as well.

I can also confirm that my iPad Pro 11" does not charge while using the Z1 with TDJ1 and TDJ2. I've tried two different USB-C to USB-B cables and both aren't outputting any power to the iPad so I'm assuming this is a problem with the Z1. Very unhappy about this.

happydan are you able to confirm if the USB-C hub provides power to your iPad Pro and also connectivity to the Z1? I might have to order a hub if this is the case.

Let me ask more in detail, because i am curious on this (i use an old iPad Air2 with Z1/TDJ1 and S4mk2/TDJ1.

Using the older ipad with NI cable the Z1 or S4 charged the ipad ... but in sense of 'battery decreased slower than without Z1/S4' ... in real use (on gigs) the level decreased also... but as said it sent power to ipad (so a gig with several hours was never a problem). Using TDJ without controller would decrease the battery lever much faster. Closing the TDJ app and keeping cable increased the battery level. Th problem we (old ipad user) have: we can not use a hub at all because we must use the NI prorietary cable.

Is it same on usb/c ? It 'charges' a bit but not enough to increase battery level ?

    Hi Dan,

you wouldn’t have a link to this hub?

Does it charge the iPad too?
