cool, i like your style of answering ;)
it was not the direction where I wanted to end up, but exact reading and exact answering ;-)

ask someone "do you have a watch?"
i bet 99% of all people answers with the actual time, or pulls out the mobile and checks what time it is.
no one ever says yes i have a watch or NO ;-)
    *h3h3*

OK but where want i end up?
I would like to know if there are any warnings before buying.
problems with win7 or snow loapard, what should i check before etc.
since its a discontinued model, no support any longer etc.

do you guys have anything for those questions?
thx in advance! big ups telly!

I've been using one for a while on XP and now with win 7 64bit and it works fine dispite having no official 64bit drivers. I have recently lost my mic channel in the mixer though, i just get loud crackels when i switch it to mic, don't think thats anything to do with traktor though. Id recomend it

if your a pc user though just be weary that a lot of new laptops are loosing firewire for usb3

Is it just me or when you disconect the firewire cable, all channels drop out, even if the inputs are set no CDJs ou Turntables?

That's my only problem with this mixer.

There were problems getting 64 bit Windows drivers out, not sure if that was resolved. For the record, my Zero4 worked perfectly fine in Traktor Scratch Pro 1 and 2 before I traded it out for something else, Snow Leopard 64-bit and 32-bit on my two Macs.

My best friend has one; he regrets getting it, & now uses an S4. It always was a pain setting it up with timecode with Windows and CDJs, and I consider myself fairly proficient when DJing with computers.

Again, it was not mine and I never really had a chance to sit down, read the manual, and troubleshoot, etc... But for someone looking for a plug and play experience out of the box, I would not reccommend it.

Just my 2 cents whatever it's worth... ;)

    One here..

im using ZERO4 for both TRAKTOR & SCRATCH LIVE
Works pretty great on both system.

Just one tiny things bothers me...
i'm using portable firewire harddrive for both mp3 and mp4 storage.
And this is a issue for me to use my hd with this mixer, serial connected would slow the file transferring.

For me, I would say this is a nice product.;)

If your in UK you can buy mine.
Perfect condition, only used to test Traktor. Never gigged. Never left the house.
I just dont need it anymore.

That's because the ZERO 4 has the audio card built into it. So if you disconnect the FW Cable it's like your pulling out your audio I/O's...

You can set up T2/Z4 in a few different configs so If you have an Audio 8/10 SoundCard you can just use the Z4 as a Midi Mixer but
mind you that all the info from the Z4 is transfered via the FW Cable but again,
That said, it also has a MIDI I/O so feel free to try different configs if you want to eliminate the F/W cable use.
It's all in the Z4 Manual.

FTR, ZERO4 64 bit drivers aren't that good but on the KORG Forums someone has a "Hacked Driver" which works well.

The Z4 is a solid mixer but unfortunately Korg is horrible with support on their products, I mean HORRIBLE so I am no longer buying KORG products because of it.

The ZERO series had 2 well documented issuses, 1 is what I spoke of already and the 2nd is the known "Hiss" issue which again is documented and was mostly on the ZERO 8's... YMMV..

Whats the point of buying a certified mixer if you can't use it with different sources and switch those seemless?

The new nexus don't drop the audio on CD/TT channels if you disconect the usb cable, and I don't think this problem is a standard in all other certified mixers.

You are confusing what is going on.
The ZERO 4 allows you to switch the sources seamlessly right on the input selector. There is no need to remove wiring of any sort.

You asked a question about removing the FW cable which I answered...and then some.
Truth is why would any one be dumb to remove the FW cable during it playing is beyond me....

I've had one for a few years now, I bought it when it released (perhaps not the best decision) that said I quite like it, although now with traktor 2 there was no real easy way to record a set or use the loop recorder so I got an audio 10 and really like that too. It sounds a little better and now and I am not fearful of the fire wire cable falling out. Which will ruin your day. no hiss for me i think that was more on the zero 8. Support was not bad from korg canada I was able to e-mail and even talk to them on the phone when I was having recording issues and didn't know why the hi-pitched noise was interrupting the music (turned out be be a loos fire wire connection on my computer which I fixed with Velcro. I think i posted some pics on this forum. Although that was a while ago.

The effects on the zero4 are quite good and I use them more than the ones in traktor. the sampler is fun too.

I use a xone 1d along side to take advantage of some of the features in traktor like looping, searching and loading tracks and effects. I also tap out beats with machine on the korg's 4 channel. I use a 4 year old PC laptop with windows 7 32 bit tweaked for music. No drop outs, no crashes.

it's quite solid mixer and today mine looks brand new and use it every day and play out from time to time.

I bought it when it came out but today i would pay only 600 or 700 for it and also get an audio 10 and use it instead of the internal sound card.

today I;m not sure what I would get perhaps, the A & H 92 with, 2 traktor x1 controllers and an audio 10 sound card. yep that would do it.

    best

    shawn~

Either my english is really really bad or I don't think you're folloing me.
    Imagine this:
A zero4 in a club, 2 djs with traktor and firewire ports (no need for Audio 4/6/8/10)
1st DJ is playing with traktor linked to the mixer via FW and then he plays a vinyl straight to the phono inputs on the mixer.
During this, the 1st DJ disconnects his FW cable so that the 2nd DJ can connect his. Now, the problem is that the sound coming straight from vinyl drops out! And this shouldn't happen. I know that on the DJM900 this doen't happen and i doubt it happens on any other hi-end certified mixer.

Actually, your english is perfect and I understood you 100% but lacked some detail,
Now the clarification you now made is totally understandable...

The drop out you are speaking of maybe be hardware related and could never be fixed
    or
It was a routing issue that could have been "patched" in a firmware update but we will never know because of KORG.

Ironically, the ZERO 4 is built like a tank, is very well layed out and doesn't sound bad for a built in SC.
    but
The ZERO 4 is a victim of horrible neglect by KORG, so much so that instead of assisting all the DJ's who shelled out bux for their Zero line they discontinued it along w/support.
They will never see another $ from my pocket.

    headphone cue?

hey guys, cant seem to get the headphone cue working... can anyone offer me any advice please? using the korg mixer without cdjs or vinyl connected. just the mixer alone attached to speakers. using external audio settings, and no matter what channels i change to the monitor output nothing comes through the headphones. is i change the headphones to monitor the master output then the track output plays through them then... whatsup ? some one please come to my rescue!
