Note to forum users: I am working to resolve as best as possible Martin's issues. Unfortunately, much of what he doesn't like is in the samples themselves.

First of all, all my thanks to Phil and Olivier for a fantastic job, and also, after a long wait, to NI for this update. The CG is so much better, and in the end I'm using only the two presets from Phil and Olivier (!), with a slight preference for the last one.
    Thanks guys!!

At this point, I would love to make use of the crossgrade offer for Kontakt. My question is, since I intent to use Kontakt only for AP, are the script freely modifiable or are they passworded? And if so, is the password available?
    Thanks again
    Enzo

    Hi Enzo,

for AP, the scritps are protected, and I would prefer to keep it this way and have only Olivier change them.

Phil made all his improvements without touching a single line of code, however!

    Hello,
I only recently bought Akoustik Piano, primarily because of the reduced anniversary price, and have one issue/question. While I generally prefer Phil's preset and the Steinway D, one note sticks out to me. On the default Steinway it would be Bb2, I believe, a ninth below middle C. On Phil's it's the G below that, because I think he changed the mapping. Anyway, it has a nasty (to me) buzz or twang when hit hard, and I think the easiest way is to just remap the notes above and below that sample to cover its range at full velocity so that sample is avoided. Is there a way to do that, either in AP or in Kontakt2? I suppose since Phil remapped his notes there must be a way to do that. Thanks in advance for any help.

    Hi Kinny,

yes, you are in full controll of the mapping with Kontakt 2! just make a backup copy first ;-)

you can single out specific groups, solo groups, delete all zones on the key you do not like and then extend the zones to the left or to the right onto that key. Select the group for that key first if you use Group Solo in the mapping editor.

    give it a try!

    best,
    Markus

    Markus,
I will try editing the preset. Can I then save it in such a way that the preset is readable in AP? If not, I guess I would lose the convolution reverbs in AP. Any suggestion on that?

    Hi Kinny,

yes, presets are 100% compatible between AP 1.1 R2 and Kontakt 2.1.1! even the convolution code will work in both apps as long as you do not change either the scripts or the convolution effect.

check out the related notes in the AP 1.1 R2 readme and the Kontakt 2.1 Manual Addendum!

    best,
    Markus

Re the twangy note. On mine you mean the second G from the left? If so, I used the E below that because I didn't like the sound of the G [see my first post] and F1 is out of tune, and the ones above are Quacking ducks.
You can try but these are the problems I ran up against - so many bad notes. I am making more refinements to my preset - I'll check that G again.

Yes, that's exactly what I mean G2, an octave and a four below Middle C. But I only hear it on the loudest sample. I think you already moved it from the Bb above that, which has the same twang on the factory preset. For me all you would have to do is delete that sample and pull over the ones to either side. I'll try it myself tomorrow if I have the time and let you know how it sounds.

Kinney; No, [It's G1,not G2] - G1 is from E1 as is F1, F#1, G#1, A,1 . There are no good notes in that area. What bothers me most is E1 is slightly out of tune. You could try the original G1 which is A#1, B1, C2. I don't like it better, though.
