To be honest, no, thanks. I want saving to be as quick and effortless as possible, not including a question and an additional button press.

Sorry, but I'm also not a fan. If you already know about the risk of overwriting then why not make sure you got good backups before the jam session?

Me too but machine crashes half the time. Is that also a 'no' to auto save and project history?

Im proposing a better system for backups in general. We shouldn't have to think so much about it. And I mean damn it really sucks when you loose a piece of music you need FOREVER.

and I agree with 36 in that it should be a simple process. I guess we have different ways of getting there. Open to ideas though.

I think you might have a deeper issue there and one that's worth looking into. This is not normal behaviour.

As long as auto-save is an option for users, no problem. It should be in its own thread if it's not already though. As for project history, it would potentially be a "nice-to-have", but not something I'm personally bothered about and I think there are plenty of other file management fixes/improvements that time/effort would be better spent on.

Its deeper than that tho. It truly is. Because sometimes you get a mix that you just can't get back. Musicians forget notes. Engineers forget mixes. I do agree with you tho I think file management fixes are the priority. However if Maschine crashed less, and/or had some bandaids in place I don't think file management would be such an issue.

That being said, Auto-save and project history are some of the only key features DAWs like Logic, FL studio, Ableton have on Maschine in terms of file management. Granted logic works better with Mac. FL better with pc or whatever. of course im the Mac guy lol. sometimes I wish logic and Maschine would have a baby you know? lol

But I think project history could be a lot deeper than what it sounds like on the surface. People could really study how they make decisions over time in different projects. Thats kinda deep asf bro. If you really want to be 'finishing' songs in Maschine I think its more than just 'nice to have'. Thats really some space age technology man. You could be looking at your project history like "oh damn Im about to do something stupid let me not do that." and it will make a different song informed by past decisions.

** I actually save the same project like 10 times now and go back and fourth to fix my stupid mixing decisions.

    "2020-10-10 a v1
    2020-10-10 a v2
    2020-10-10 a v3
    2020-10-10 a v4 + v2 synth + v3 drums
    2020-10-10 a v5 final lol

    and so on
