Here are my suggestions for the arrangement timeline that, I have been told, will be ignored.

    1) Allow different patterns from the same group within a single scene
    2) Allow scenes length to be independent of pattern length
    3) Allow us to mute/delete ghosted patterns independently of the rest of the scene.
    4) Allow us to manipulate the patterns lengths on the timeline, shortening them or lengthening them (looping), as in programs like Acid and Live.

The way the arrangement is now it is more difficult than it should be to create a complete song in standalone mode.

+3 I bought a Maschine as part of their current promotion as an impulse buy. I should have researched this before buying - I probably would have skipped as it is a major PITA to create different patterns to match the longest pattern in a scene just to do a fill at the end.

90s pattern sequencing. Without a fundamental 21st century innovative retake on the concept ... I'm totally over it. Fundamentals like being able to adjust pattern length have been a complete no brainer to fix for years, but remain untouched. Workflow? c'mon folks ... who are we kidding?

NI do things in mysterious ways, creating absolutely brilliant software (Komplete, Maschine, Traktor) on one hand then hobbling the entire system with bizarre oversights like this. In this day and age the sequencer should smoke anything we've used before ... instead we still have to jump hoops to create simple fill variations! Honestly, it was easier on my antiquated yamaha RS7000 hardware sequencer. Lots of other features on this old beast's sequencer that Maschine could benefit from having. Heaven forbid we might now imagine a pattern sequencer that can accommodate pre beat pickup notes in 2014 ... or a song mode ... or a song chain mode ... etc ... etc ...

Would really like to use Maschine as my primary DAW. It would really fit the needs if arrangement would be a little more flexible. Now, for the small shortcomings I just have to use competitor product to finalize everything.

+1 once again. I will be glad when we don't have to keep bringing these things up.

Free pattern arrangement would respark my love for Maschine. As for now it's just a drum machine/loop maker (and a prety sweet controller) for my other DAWs.

Five years...I'm giving N.I. five years to fix this...if they don't get it right by 2020, it will be a sad day. By 2050 I'm expecting to be dazzled by their newly released DAW...well, maybe not 'dazzled'; the first several years we'll be counted on to act as live 'beta testers' to clear out the bugs. Say by, oh, I don't know, around 2060, the dazzling should begin. I'm a patient man as you can tell! (insert ironic tone here) ;)

I agree with all the above :)

You should be able to open it up in your DAW, press play in your song in the daw, (which would start Maschine) Push record on Maschine & then just change the patterns or scenes live through the song, on the fly. And then you should be able to edit any of the changes afterwards. You should be able to change the length of the change so it could change every bar, 1/2 bar 1/16th bar etc. That would make creating the Maschine parts in to your song very creatively & as you were feeling it. Or you just step rercord.
This was a function on drum machines in the 80's for petes sake!!
I've found that because all that speed & quick creativity is not there with Maschine when you come to write songs i've actually stopped using it.!!

I've been assured that they are working on this & should be a part of the next big release.

It really is essential in spontaneous song writing!!!

Another thing i'd like to see in maschine with these features is the ability to record a performance somewhat like ableton or Geist do.

-With a separated secene to view to build and launch scenes pretty much as is now
-A song view to arrange the scenes and patterns with the features requested by the OP

You could either record your performance or record in a linear fashion directly to the song mode

Either N.I. is cooking up something delicious for a major Maschine update, or they've just plain given up on trying to make it anything more than what it already is...hard to tell as they're so secretive and uncommunicative. We can only hope the former...

In the video with Mark de Clive-Lowe he makes it pretty obvious that he's had some insight to the future of maschine, and it is coming . Himself thinks maschine is not the best for finishing songs . I'm hoping is all a matter of time and we just have to keep dropping ideas and keep making music
