Why is assigning cue points to a midi controller such a pain. It should a very simple process, instead its the most difficult to map of all Traktor functions. Serato makes it very easy to assign cue points AND trigger them all in a live set. I just switched over to Traktor from Serato. I like both programs, but please learn a few things from Serato. On another note, I still havent completely figured out how to assign cue points to a controller. There are way too many options in the midi assign and half of the terminology does not make any sense. Can someone explain this in layman's terms. Ive searched all over youtube on this subject and the only tutorial that explains it is in some other language. I just need to vent, was getting very frustrated. Thanks.

    Hey Steve,

First things, did you download the SSL hotkey file?

    Also, a few tips...

    - Put your system specs in your signature
    - When asking a question be very specific about what hardware you are trying to configure.

Would a generic midi TSI help you because I can or anyone on here can export a blank TSI of the controls you want and need.

Then all you have to do is pick the Midi In/Out port for your controller, then go through the assignments, click 'Learn' and press the button, or turn the knob on your controller to map it.

Yes, I did. I havent tried using the hotkeys to trigger cue points, Id like to use my midi controller for that. The hot hotkey functions I have tried using do work good. Im on a mac and Id like to replace the control button with the command button instead. How do I do that? Thanks.

Crap you would have to relearn all those keys. I could import the file on my OSX box and do it for you if that improves your workflow.

If you have time for that then sure. Id really appreciate it. Ive been trying to get Traktor all set up and customized for a few days now, Im just ready to use it. Thanks for the help. Back to my first question though, do you know how to assign the cue points to a midi controller, so taht I can drum through the cue points. Like in Rafik's Traktor video demo where he hits the bass sounds creating his own bassline. I was able to do that with Serato and my mpd32 but cnat seem to map the cue's to my pads in Traktor. Again, thanks for the help.

Yeah you can do that, you just have to map them. That's why I wanted to send you the generic midi file for import with the transport controls.

Then you can assign them to what you want, as long as your MPD is assigned to the midi in/out ports it will work.

I understand how to map functions to my mpd32. I have already mapped all the effects and some functions from the UI mixer. Im just having problem with assigning the cue points 1-8 to eight pads on my mpd32. I just need some detail here. Again thanks for you input. Also, is there a quick way to switch between effects chained and effects advanced without having to gointo preferences?

Oh, in that case you have to create separate assignments, use the interaction mode Direct and select Hotcue 1, etc... Use the learn function to assign them to the respective buttons.

I have to experiment with switching effects modes because I don't think there is an easy way to do that.

If you look at the assignments from my SSL hotkey map you will see what I'm talking about.

    Hi there. :)

Make sure you have the 1.2.2 or later version...
They added a function under Loops and Cues that says Store/select Hotcue... Or something. It's the longest of them there.
Learn the button you like to add, then select direct and the hotcue number desired for that button (Hotcue 1-8).

One tip: If you use modifiers you can use the same button to delete the hotcue once it is set by holding another button down. This is extremely powerfull as you can delete and reset your cuepoint REALLY fast. :)

Two tip: Use SNAP (in global section) if you would like your cuepoints to be hug the beatmarkers.

Tree tip: You can have up to 32 different cuepoints stored, but only eight hotcues. Select the types wisely. I only use 5-8. If you need more... Be sure to store your autogrids after setting all eight hotcues. I recommend using the first button as modifier.

The best thing is that Traktor remembers the cuepoints till next time. :)

    Enjoy.

Thanks for the help. I finally figured out how to set cue points and trigger them with my mpd32. Sevendays, thanks for getting into detail. Im going to try what you explained above after I get all the updates for Traktor.
