    Hey guys,

My Audio 4 has been acting up lately. Whenever I open up Traktor and run it through the A4, I'm getting some gnarly distortion. It's clearly an issue with the driver, as when I reload it and restart my system, the distortion goes away.

However, any time I disconnect the A4 and start it up, the distortion comes back. It's like the driver doesn't stay loaded. Any help with this?

Yea i mean I've had mine for awhile, and have had the problem in the past but I somehow resolved. I just updated my version though and now I'm having issues again, so if someone knows how to keep the driver loaded I'd appreciate it!

I talked to customer service today. The rep was helpful, but I still have the issue. What did work was changing from Audio DJ 4 (4in, 4out) to Audio DJ 4 (asio) in the audio settings tab. That solved the crackle issue. Then I noticed I am only getting the left channel coming through and not the whole spectrum.

I was e-mailed a list of possible conflicts and went through the list, it still did not help. I need the full sound. Seems that this Audio DJ 4 is really buggy. After buying Audio 4 and Traktor Duo which comes in at around 4 bills in total, I really can not give up on it.

Well try this, Im not sure if we have the same issue, but what I do is reload the driver, restart the computer, and then boot up traktor, and that usually takes care of it.

My issue is, it only takes care of it for that session only. If I were to unplug the A4, and shut Traktor down, the next time I boot it up it will start distorting again. So if anyone's got any tips to permanently keep it from doing so, I'm all ear :D

Thanks, but I have uninstalled and reinstalled everything so many times now with the problem still persisting. I am thinking of trying for refunds, but unfortunately Traktor download purchases are final sales. I dropped 4 bills to get all this crap. paying for inconvenience is really disturbing. So basically I just gave NA 400$ for nothing. I woulda been happier with a bag of beans. The chances of a beanstalk soaring into the sky seems to be more relevant than getting this crud to operate properly.

"in order to isolate the root of the issue, here is a detailed step by step guide for troubleshooting. In order to follow each step carefully, we recommend to print this out.

First, please make sure to use the following settings in Traktor and for your audio interface. These settings are a good starting point since they should work also on older machines which are not so powerful.

    - Set the latency to higher value (1024 samples). If you have a Native Instruments audio interface set "standard latency" in the ASIO Settings panel.

    - For Audio8DJ users: Make sure you have chosen the ASIO driver named "Audio 8 DJ (ASIO)" as audio device (Preferences / Audio Setup), NOT the DirectSound driver named "Audio 8 DJ (8 In, 8 Out)"

    - Deactivate Key-lock in Traktor.

    - Disconnect all unused USB devices from your computer.

In the following we list some essential tunings for Windows which we recommend to do first. Some of these include to deactivate specific components on your computer. We ask you to try this out in order to isolate the source of the issue, even if you require this component for your daily work.

    1.) Adjust Power Management settings

Start > Control Panel > Power Options.

Set the Power Scheme to "High Performance", click on "Change plan settings". On the next page set both "Turn off the display" and "Put the computer to sleep" to "Never".

Then click "Change advanced power settings" and in the window popping up make sure you have the following settings:

Hard disc > Turn off hard disk after > Setting (Minutes) = Never

Sleep > Sleep after > Setting (Minutes) = Never

USB settings > USB selective suspend setting > Setting = deactivated

Display > Turn off display after > Setting (Minutes) = Never

Processor power managment > Minimum processor state > Setting = 100%

Processor power managment > Maximum processor state > Setting = 100%

2.) Disable the power saving option of the USB ports

In your device manager (control panel/ System/ Hardware), right click each "USB Root Hub", choose "Properties > Power management" and untick the "allow the computer to turn off this device to save power" option.

3.) Disable some components on your computer as a test

IMPORTANT: Here is a list of devices that you should NEVER deactivate since these are essential components required by Windows: System timer, Keyboard, System CMOS/real time clock, Microsoft ACPI-Compliant System, Numeric data processor, Primary IDE Channel, Secondary IDE Channel, Graphics Controller, Ultra ATA Storage Controllers. In general, you should not deactivate anything which is listed in the branch "System Devices".

Right click the "My Computer" icon on the desktop > Properties > Hardware > Device Manager

In the Device Manager right click a component and choose "deactivate" (NOT "uninstall"!).

The following components are worth trying to deactivate first:

    - Network adapter

    - WLAN cards

    - Bluetooth ports

    - Infrared Ports

    - ACPI compliant battery

    - Trackpad

    - Video cameras

    - DVD drives

    - Any third party component which is not an essential part of the system (be careful and only deactivate those which you know and which are not required for Windows to boot)."

This may help you. It unfortunately did not help me. That is from customer service.

Ive had the same problem with customer support. Returned everything. You mentioned that you bought it online. That means you paid by credit card. For your information no mater what Native Instruments says no refunds for download purchases you are still protected with your credit card (not a debit card). First thing to do print out all email response regarding your email conversation with tech support including your case number. Then call up your credit card company and tell them you want to open a dispute on this charge for a defective item. Explain to the credit card company you tried everything including tech support and you have the documents to prove it. The credit card company will give NI a chance to make it right. 95% of the time you will win and your credit card will be credited. But you have to do it fast. The sooner you contact the credit card company the better your case. You will win. Ive done it myself in similar situations and have always won. ;)

You are obviously doing something very wrong. To choose the correct driver is so basic, I don't even know where to beginn. There is noting crappy, as you refer to it below, about Audio 4 DJ, nor the software.
