My setup: Traktor Scratch Pro on a Win 7 laptop. I really love Traktor's interface and functionality. The only things I'm missing are: 1) monitoring (my laptop's onboard sound only supports a single out) and mixing controls (using the mouse just does not do it for quick cuts and so forth). So, I need a better soundcard/ audio interface and I need mixer functions. Trying to decide what to get. Please help.

I just returned a NuMark OmniControl. It wouldn't power off my usb and I got a powered hub (which the manual said it would work with) and it still wouldn't power. Anyways, over that.

Now I'm thinking of getting a NI Audio 4 and using an analog mixer. That will give me hard mixing functions and monitoring. My question: can I record my sets on my computer through traktor as I mix with that type of setup?

    Thanks.

With The Audio4 you can record if you are not using timecode
and there is a REC out on the mixer

yes,but since you wanna go digital why don't you get a dissent controller
and an Audio2? then you can mix internally and rec internally

If you use the Audio4 in Internal mixing mode, then you can use one set of RCA outs for the master output, assign the headphone output for monitoring, then record using internal mode.

1337irl, what path did you take to get TSP?
If it was an upgrade from LE does it not come with the Audio 8?
    ---
NVM, there is no LE to TSP.

Hrmmm....1337irl, are you sure you're not on just Traktor Pro, without the SCRATCH designation?

yes, it is traktor scratch pro, 1.2.26
    no, i don't have the audio 8....

@themistoklisv... controller and audio 2 may be the way to go, except that I'm on a budget. $400. i thought that the omnicontrol would be the solution but the f*@!#$% thing wouldn't work. i am usually pretty solid with troubleshooting but that thing used up all my patience, so i returned it. i found a vestax vcm100 for $229, do you think that would be a good solution?

@everybody... thanks so much for your input, i have a lot of analog experience but am kinda n00b with the digital ting, i really appreciate getting advice from experienced users

The only way I'm aware of getting TSP is with the Audio 8 DJ, Traktor Scratch Duo upgrade, Traktor Scratch 1.3 upgrade or as a certified hardware upgrade. Is there a way to get TSP and not have a proper interface?

i sold my entire hardware setup (technics, rane mixer, pioneer fx, etc) including audio 8. decided to take a break from mixing... missed it too much and got hooked on digital mixing... should have kept the audio interface, huh?

    Thanks Ras.

It sounds like everybody on here is pretty much unanimous that the way to go is with a controller and not an analog mixer.

I already ordered the vmi-100 for $229 out the door. It has the features I need, is in budget and I have had good experiences with Vestax. As long as I can get it working properly I should be golden. Otherwise, I have 45 days to return it and I'll just move on to the next one.

I'll let you know how it goes...

I saw you have ordered it
Generally Vestax are good quality products, Since you ordered the VCM-100 you won't be needin the NI AudioDJ2 since the vestax has an internal
As a Controller I don't know if it is enough for TSPro, I mean it doesn't have more than the basic fuctions
Maybe you can play around with modifiers in order to control more function with it

I think I will be fine with the basics. The mouse works for me for all the navigation, selection and setup stuff, and I'm not into using much fx. I really just need knobs and sliders for eq and volume.

Thanks for all your help. This will suit my needs (as long as I can get it working right).

    Keep it bumpin!
