I searched this forum to see if this was discussed and I did not find anyone with this issue. So here it is:

As everyone know's I am trying to patiently wait for the CD Bug issue fix.

So today I decided to hook up the FS2 SA to see how well it sounded/worked when using the "Thru" feature.

In the beginning is sounded just fine. Just like if I was playing right thru my CD TT's .....and then all of a sudden I was listening to a new CD that I just recieved and wanted to just listen to it and the audio was dropping left and right. What I mean by that is the it was fading lower to all the way out on either the left or right side intermitantly.

I unplugged my other deck to make sure it was not the CD. I plugged the CD TT directly into the mixer and played the same songs I had this issue with and they played just fine. So it is not the CD.

Then....I unplugged the 1st deck to make sure it was not faulty and plugged it directly into the mixer and it played the songs in question perfectly.

So...has anyone else had this happen to them. This is very disturbing because if I were to have some sort of issue with the puter or timecode CD then I would need to play CD's directly on the CD TT's via the "Thru" but if I am going to have audio drops you cant depend on that.

This all is very discouraging to say the least.....could it be a faulty SA?

So the sound would fade away on either the left or the right channel independantly, and intermittantly? Its very odd to hear your problem, and NI and Stanton have never een this type of issue. Could you post what hardware you have... computers specs, CD TTs, mixer, ect.... ?

I'll see what I can figure out. Meanwhile, file a support request with NI just so that its completely documented and in NI's database.

I really appreciate your assistance in this matter but I really dont seem to sound like ass in saying this but I am sure many here can relate to what I am about to say.

I have sent two support tickets to them already in regard to other seperate issues and have yet to date to hear back from them. The 1st a little over a month ago....Now what makes me think that they will answer this one.

I do apologise in advance but I dont think I am going to waste my time in sending anything to them. They can view the info here it they would like. I think that they see everything that goes on here, even if they dont reply.

I will try to rewire everything over again and see if I can duplicate it and report back.

Again DJ Hobbes, I really appreciate your assistance in this matter. It seems more of the members here are more interested in helping each other out than the OEM itself.

I am not trying to insult anyone here I am merely a customer expressing my severe dissatisfaction with a company that has a seemingly non-existing customer service/support department.

Oh, just to make sure no one takes what I am saying wrong.

I believe that this product can take all others by storm but what sets this and every other OEM apart is the lack of customer service/support from this one here.

Your major rival has just as many issues with it as yours does, but they acknowledge your concerns, even if takes a while for them to fix them. So I think you both are head to head with the technology and some of the features. I like your interface a lot better and I like the 1394 a lot better as well along with what seems a better SA.

But to me it seems your company is going right back into the same bad reputation it had b4 with customer service/support.

Please listen to what so many of your past/present/potential customers have expressed to you time and time again.

    Respectively,

    passive buses.....
the s/a has passive busses, i believe.what does this mean? look it up if you are detail oreinted. in a nutshell, this should let the signal pass thru on the thru w/o any issue no matter what. if you need an analagy then basically the thru bus is just like if you put an extension cable. the bus should not touch the sound in the way of signal adjustment. you can unplug the sa from the wall wort and the computer and it will work. i do not understand your problem but i guess that it is not the s/a. nemonic back me up please
hope that i am correct and i hope that i helped.

Sometimes i also got some wierd problems. And it all comes down to the same solution GROUNDLOOPS. Please dont ask me to explain cos i know nothing about it in technical terms.
Last night i but the gear back together after my gig, and have to use 2, 4 plugs extensions, at this time i put the SA in the last 4 plug together with the laptop and the ex. HD. The first 4 plug i use for mixer, 2x1200, efx. and the "last" 4 plug ext. I got really wierd signals, right input monitor showed me that one of the channels was dropping. i checked the needles, connections etc. NOTHING.
At this point i reconnected the plugs so i got the SA and the 1200:s in the same extension and "viola" full burst on the signal.
So beware of groundloops and keep this in mind all the time.
My knowledge in this is all thanx to Hobbes.

yup, could be a ground loop. i experienced this last night. i was using my laptops onboard sound plugged in to the session in on my mixer to loop up some beats to cut over when one of my phono channels cut off. i could hear a buzzing in the background. when i unplugged the laptop from the mixer i got the channel back

    wierd

okay first off I have seen this when I first got FS going. What kind of envirnoment were you in when you played this cd. Was the bass or PA really loud? I was doing sound checks at the new club opening and used FS2.. the sound was fine for a bit and then the sound bled off slowly and then stopp and then came back and all kinds of stuff..

it turned out to be 3 things.. the gain settings on the SA were not strong enough (meaning too far counter clockwise) and also the RUmble threshold settings in the UI and also I had to build a new coffin and add 2 inches of foam padding to help dampen any more sublevel freqs that the tonearm was pcking up and adding to the signal.. watch the level in the UI screen to see if its strong of dying. if its dying its probably because of the rumble and sublevel freqs its picking up..

it worked for me. but if you were testing on a home system or not so loud audio system then I am sorry but i dont know just yet.

I feel your pain about the TechSUpport..gotta love there phone message though lol
