    Hi,

I've wrote to NI support and they told me that this interface is no more supported.
They've also updated the compatibility news with this information...

I told them that I'm going to buy a focusrite 2i4 that don't need a driver on osx because is a class compliant device.

The last drivers (2.6.0) "work" here in 10.11.4 with my AK1. The issues with USB streaming errors are still there, as they have been since the drivers went 64-bit, but in DAW use you shouldn't run into any noticeable problems. System sounds are still broken so expect choppy, looping playback of those.

Still, I don't use it anymore (I tested it on my laptop with 10.11.4 recently to see about using it for mobile work) as I also went the Focusrite route for the same reason as Alexxxx75: class compliant drivers.

It's a shame NI abandoned it as it was a great interface (to be fair, they didn't make it or the drivers). Even if they'd provided a firmware update to enable class compliance it would have helped.

Any solution other than reseting to Yosemite? I can't believe NI won't make a new driver, AK1 is the only hardware left behind

Can you please post more details about your system and the problems with the AK1, so other users might be able to give specific hints.

Well, the AK1 was replaced by the Komplete Audio 6 years ago.
So the AK1 is a legacy product which isn't supported anymore (as already mentioned in this thread) ...

Audio makes constant clicks, and in Ableton Live audio breaks down after approximately 2 min. of playback

NI, you lost a costumer with me, never going to buy hardware from them again

It's easy solution for El Capitan.
Installer put driver to /Library/Extensions, you need to install it to /System/Library/Extensions and everything works.
You can use kextutility for this operation.
And first you need to disable SIP.

I cannot believe that I invested 270€ into supreme hardware that is now nothing more than a brick.

I would never ever buy Native Instruments hardware again. If you're a musician that would consider buying hardware from NI, don't do it and thank me later.

    Hello Matt G,

    1) Have you tried
    - installing your Audio Kontrol 1 with the drivers 2.8.0 for Audio 8 DJ
    - and setting the frequency at 48 kHz?
There are Mac computers on which the process makes the Audio Kontrol 1 work in Mac OS Sierra.

    2) I understand you can be unhappy you meet difficulties to use your hardware with the last Mac OS, but:
    - Audio Kontrol 1 was released in 2007,
    - Mac OS Sierra is officially compatible only with Mac computers released since 2009,
so, to be fair, even if your Audio Kontrol 1 had been manufactured by Apple, it may have been incompatible with Sierra today.

Expecting the audio interface manufacturer to chose a hardware/firmware technology which will be compatible with an OS released 9 years later is not a reasonable expectation, nobody can be sure it will work, because nobody knows exactly what computers will be in 9 years.
