    Hi,

    I just bought Audio Kontrol 1 and I cannot get the device to work or output any sound. My system is as follows:

    Mac Book Pro - OSX 10.5.2
    * 2.5GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
    * 2GB memory

    I have installed all drivers and software prior to connecting the device. I have also downloaded all of the updates to the AK1 via the NI Service Center prior to plugging / launching AK1.

    These are the problems I am getting:

    I can see the device driver in my System Preferences, I am able to choose Audio Control 1 from the pull down menu in the Sound section for the input, the output and the sound effects. However, when I select AK1 for the input and the output, System preferences says: "There are no volume controllers for this device". Additionally I have AK1 connected to a pair of Yamaha Monitors (Yamaha HS50M Powered Studio Monitor Speakers) via 1/4" plug cables and I cannot get any audio out of my computer using AK1 as the sound card... Even when I try to use the computer volume buttons from the keyboard I get a forbidden icon on the screen speaker logo as if letting me know there are no audio capabilities... Even when I try to plug in my guitar and get something through the Guitar Rig plugings I cannot get any sounds outputting or recognized.

    It is strange as AK1 is controlling iTunes as a MIDI device. It is working ok for this, but no sound. I ultimately intend to use AK1 for Logic and Ableton once I get them / install them. But for now I have been trying to test AK1 with something "simple" like iTunes and cannot get it to work... :|

    It is frustrating. Could somebody please help me? :(

    Thanks!

    similar problems with macbook pro and no audio out

    hi there
    i am having similar problems using the audio kontrol 1 and a macbook pro.
    Mac Book Pro - OSX 10.5.2
    * 2.5GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
    * 2GB memory

    Using Garage Band for recording.

    i too cannot get any sound output through the audio kontrol unit on my mac.

    i am using garage band, and i am trying to record through the audio kontrol 1 usb interface. i have set up the system prefs/sound settings as indicated in the user manual:
    sound effects> audio kontrol 1
    input> audio kontrol 1 (and I can see the levels from my analog synth here)

    but none of the output options generate any sound out. i do not have external monitors, but rather have headphones from the audio kontrol unit (no sound), and also speaker output from the computer (again with the only sounds coming from recording through the audio kontrol 1 unit and garage band being the metronome). i did try the aggregate midi set up and that doesn't offer any sound out. In the output settings there is an error message for both the audio kontrol 1 output and the aggregate device option which states, " The selected device has no output controls."

    i have also selected Garage Band from the Audio Kontrol software.

    The only green lights on the audio kontrol usb unit are the USB indicators.

    i cannot for the life of me find the solution through the user forum. someone please help :(

    Hey, make sure to have your volume knobs up for the headphones. I did this kind of silly mistake when I first started using the audio interface... I am sure this might not be your problem, but I cannot think of anything else to help at this moment... Good luck!
