    Hi, partners:

Some days ago I formatted my macbook pro (mid 2012 model). Now Im running Windows 10 Pro via bootcamp. Some issues regarding sound had been appearing but they are solved. Im running ASIO with Maschine 2.8.2 (or the latest version to date)

The problem is that if I plug the headphones jack in for my drumming practice, I only can heard what I doing with Maschine and the Win10 systems sounds. If I want to heard some youtube video, for example, I dont hear anything.
If I unplug the headphones, neither can hear youtube video nor maschine audio via laptop speakers. If I want to fiz that, the only thing I must do is to close Maschine software and restart it for hearing via speakers.

    Hope I made myself clear.

    Have a great day!

Did you install all the drivers needed for your laptop after installing windows?
May I ask why are you running windows on a mac laptop? It can work but won't ever work 100% perfectly.

Yes, D-One. Ive already installed all the drivers and system notice that all is Ok but its not.

Im running W10 on my mac because I didnt find a solution for portable fingerdrumming (MPC live didnt like it, not the same pad sensitivity at all). I used to run paralles on osx but isnt the same as native windows installed. Love the change, man. Computer is fast, can run windows apps, plenty of VSTs and MBP CPU temp dosent get above 80º celsius (neither with closed lid and banging pads like crazy).

Now I have my portable Maschine solution and my mac maybe could last another 4-5 years more!

BTW, do you think this problem with headphone will go away if I use a MK3 (saying this because the built in audio interface)

Can be that ASIO be creating the problem?

Interesting... So you get significantly better performance on an Apple laptop using windows? I never thought that would be possible, I'll try it too.

Are you well versed in Windows? AFAIK Windows (just like OSX) automatically switches the built-in playback device when something is plugged into the headphone-In, that should also affect your Browser (youtube video) since browsers usually use the whatever System device is active. I use windows like 2x a year so I am not the best to advise on software issues, other users like CakeAlexS might be able to help you. You're probably just missing a setting somewhere.

Yeah, if you use an external Interface (Mk3 or anything else) you manually set it to use that interface and plugging/unplugging things on the headphone input has no impact. ASIO is usually the way to go but I have no idea how well Apple drivers are made and maintained for Windows. Getting an MK3 just because of this would be a bit overkill but having at least a cheap external audio interface is always a good idea, a Komplete Audio 1 is just 99$ for example.

    Confirm your audio interface.
If you are running ASIO4ALL uninstall completely and use the latest drivers for it and reboot.

The drivers generally locks to the audio app kicking other apps out of the way. A setting can help here but it depends on the scenario.

A common gotcha is using a different sample rate on maschine sw to say... Google Chrome. You can't expect one soundcard or audio interface to handle different sample rates simultaneously during playback.

I uninstalled ASIO drivers. Now I can switch from speakers sound to headphone sound when I plug in the ear buds. That with ASIO (latest version) didnt happened. Now when I run Maschine 2.8.whatever, and plug the headphones in, the sound continues to come out from the speakers. I took a screenshot of the Maschine Preferences

Hope this helps- Thank u for the help

Cirrus logic drivers there on screen.
Any other driver's in the dropdown?
Any other options other than wasapi?

    Confirm your audio interface please.

Under Windows control panel -> hardware and sound - sound - you can right click a device and make it a default, see if that changes things.

It's probably a Realtek XYZ something. how can he check? (remember this is apple laptop running windows)
Are windows laptops onboard audio interfaces supposed to follow the system outputs definitions in Music Software such as Maschine? Meaning, turn off the built-in speakers and switch to the headphones when they are connected automatically? (haven't used a built-in interface since windows 95)

Apparently, there's an order to install the drivers:

The info should be displayed if he carefully follows my last comment. He can tell us what is listed too under Windows control panel sounds.

    Hi!

Those are the screenshots of Sound Devices & Maschine 2 preferences windows:

    M4naT1KGFp.png rundll32_LtJ3L2QmGY.png

If I try to select ASIO but I cant. Only Wasapy is tecnically available.

I followed your instructions, CakeAlexS. Hope the images I sent to you displayed here are the ones you were requesting.

I did upgrade all the sound devices in Control Panel and Windos 10 says I hace the best drivers up to date.

    Thanks so much, fellas

Under Windows sounds you could check the settings of each device driver for headphones.

Other than that I'm stumped.. sorry.

No!! ... Get a Focusrite scarlet second revision (cheapest model or one up from that) - much better audio interface! Dedicated ones are better.

Thanks for the advice! I was looking for the one thats come with the MK3 because it comes whole in one package (The main issue in all this has been portability) but defenitely I will look into it.

Would you say that MK3 built in audio interface is of less quality/functionality than that the dedicated ones of Native Instruments?

Thanks, folks! You guys rock ;)

I wouldn't get either.. NI are good at controllers and (mostly) software.

Above as guide only. There are various models available for instance for Focusrite Scarlet. Article is from 2017.
