Audioscrobbling

I know this has been mentioned elsewhere but it'd really love to be able to scrobble tracks to last.fm!

In fact, I'd be happy to write something that did the scrobbling if you can provide the pertinent lifecycle hooks?

I considered some kinda filewatcher on the history playlists but that's obviously pretty dirty. Wouldn't phase me too much but I might as well end up with something that others could share and I wouldn't be comfortable distributing that as a solution!

Any plans implement scobbling or can you tell me if there's a cleaner way to now when Traktor has been closed down?

Thoughts welcome.

 

TP should be a professional dj software and not a commercial media player like iTunes or Winamp.Therefore I'm against this stuff. (just my opinion no offence)

What does it matter though? I purchase flacs to DJ "professionally". Still find it too much of a headache to play them any other way and I'd like my pals to know what I'm listening to / buying?

Buy a bunch of new stuff, order by import date in TS, load the first track and flick the "cruise" button on. Just be cool if that Scrobbled like everything else out there?

I know, probably the Twitter plug-in developed by richie hawtin & minus.
Twitter however isn't made for this purpose and shoudn't be prioritised above last.fm just because it is a hype at this moment.

Last.fm should be a priority imo and can accomplish the same thing.

 

I believe the Hawtin application Twitters the Shoutcast/Icecast 'now playing' information sent by Traktor. So a Last.fm scrobbler should be just about as difficult.

 

Actually, technologywise, reading the embedded tag information from shout/icecast audio stream is not that "hard" to implement. They're "just" ID3v2-tags embedded in the packed audio stream. It's simply a matter of taking everything in and simply taking what interests us.

However, I'm not at all certain if this works when using the system in external mixer mode (because when it is used, the application has no idea of what is actually "going out"). Though - I don't know if broadcasting while in external mode is even possible using T(S)P...
