August MASCHINE BEAT BATTLE

Hello Maschinists,

Welcome to the MASCHINE Forum Beat Battle version 2 point 0!

After a successful inaugural competition in which you crowned @-nautica- the Battle Champion, we want to continue this competition and give new challengers a shot at taking the prestigious title and earning their claim to (Maschine Forum) fame.

Just like last month, the winner will not only receive the undying respect of fellow forum goers, but also pick a KOMPLETE instrument or effect and a MASCHINE EXPANSION of their choice plus she/he will take ownership of the glorious ‘Battle Champion’ sash of victory to wear proudly until someone can take it away. A runner up will get one Maschine Expansion of their choice.


So get creative and take part. This month it goes like this:

Submit your best beat in any genre! The Community will decide whose beat is best! Show everyone what you can do.

1. To enter the competition, upload your beat to SoundCloud, tag @nativeinstruments and #MASCHINEbeatbattle then post your entry in this thread. Submission are accepted until the 25th of August.


VOTE!
2. Once all the submissions are collected, we'll open a special Voting Thread which will be open for votes until the 31st of August. The winner is the beat with the most community votes. That's democracy in action and people power as it should be.

3. If you've got true mad skills on MASCHINE then you are allowed bragging rights in the forum.

Taking your feedback into account, here are the new rules:

Rules that have changed:

- Discussion AND submission are both in this one thread now
- On the 25th of August the competition will close and Keir or me will collect all submissions and post them in a new thread
- Voting will start on the 25th of August in the new thread to ensure fair chances for everybody
- Voting will end on the 31st of August and the new Champion will be crowned
- Any likes or dislikes in this discussion/submission thread will not be taken into account for final voting
- This month we will not specify a genre – let your creativity flow and just submit your best beats


Rules that stayed the same:

- Build a Beat in Maschine, it can be as long as you want but must be a minimum of 16 bars
- If you win, you will have to share your project file with us to verify that the track was made in Maschine
- You can still use any sounds you like, but NI does not take responsibility for possible copyright claims and doesn't endorse the use of copyrighted samples
- Maximum three beats per person, if you submit more, only your first three beats will be eligible to win
- Dislikes won't be taken into account
- If you have submitted a beat yourself and dislike someone else's, that dislike will be deducted from the like-count of your own beat


Final thoughts:

We considered not allowing last month’s winner to enter this month's battle but decided against it. After all, voting is up to you and we thought it might be a nice challenge to beat the previous champion, if he chooses to enter this month’s competition that is.

Also, this thread is for discussion and submission around the Beat Battle ONLY! If you dare to discuss anything that is not related to this competition you shall feel the wrath of the mods.

And last but not least, @Keir @ NI and I are here to answer questions if something is unclear or you run into any problems.

Please also think about a little remix competition - with special restrictions that every Maschine 2.3 user can open / edit the project file .

Second entry : from synth to acoustics instruments all along

 

So we can use anything we like, including samples, it just has to be created in maschine so the source file can be shared to NI if you're a winner? I'm exploring new styles right now and there is a lot of sampling involved is why I ask. Tbf if I went with some tracks I've got on the boil the submission file would be massive. Hmmm.

Hopefully I can bloody finish something this month

 

You only have to submit the project file if you win. To enter you just have to post a soundcloud link and add the track link to the NI soundcloud page.

Also, there's plenty of ways to send large files nowadays (google drive, drop box, yousendit etc etc) so I'm sure that won't be a problem if the time comes.
