Hey guys...I'm having trouble with Traktor when I am recording a remix to a song. Since I only have 2 hands, sometimes it is necessary to record the song start to finish with a few effects thrown in, and then take that recording, and "re-record" it with addition effects put in, until the final song is complete....

The problem I'm running in to, is that the volume changes somehow between the recordings...so say the initial recoding of song A and song B sounds fine...then I take that recording, import it, and add in Song C as my second recording...for some reason Song A and B will have a lower volume than Song C in the final remix.

I'm sure this has to do with the auto-gain feature, and the fact that I am re-recording a song multiple times until it is done. How can I ensure that the volume stays consistent from the first recording until the last, once the song is complete?

    thanks!

have analyzed the files BEFORE you put these in a deck?
the auto gain only works AFTER analysis, and not when your're loading a track for the first time into a deck!

what is the original file format of your tracks?

plus: did you try disabling auto-gain in the preferences?

Yep. You have to analyse the tune before you add it to a deck or it goes on with zero gain.

In this case you need a more skill in live mixing....and more skill for use your mixer
yep.... Your Audio Clip,Songs,Record clips...Looops must have a short lenght as possible(for computer calculation more accuracy )
or may be if we can have a Limiter Device like ableton....Put over each deck(...that impossible..)
too much automatic can make less Natural feeling....and that not Fun :)
    ---
my major problem are when I put a fx on a deck It's seem TP2 apply too much gain on post signal......and all tempo-syncFX is always need to Focus on a master tempo if the SYNC button is On.

maybe get another small midi controller.
map the things that take more than two hands to one button, knob, or slider.
with mappings you can map more than one thing to one control.
For instance map an effect on, a paramater, and cue play all to one control.
I use the Korg Nanokontrol. which sets on my laptop perfectly. and costs very little. I also like the novation nocturn. And of course the X1 is small and not too pricey.

I actually think Traktor is a good platform for making 'Live Edits' of tunes.

The trick is to minimize the amount of overdubs you do.

    And mixing internally helps too.

Hint: If copy loops to the sample deck from a track deck then it does so without any loss of quality because it does not rerecord the audio. And setting loops in the main track that you can activate ahead of time will free up a hand.

    Hello apc424,

Since you are recording a mix the level will be influenced since your 'new' version of the track has gone through the mixer, so recording it the next time you should probably boost it and or amplify it by opening your gain or use an audio program like Amadeus if you are on Mac to the increase the level of your recorded track, I think..
It's just an example, I'm far from pro and for me this is a really neat and easy to use program in which I finalize all my own recordings and samples.
The recorded track is actually incomparable to the original unless it's a 'one 2 one' recording.
Or maybe just record on a higher level to start with and try to save adding effects till the last mix, try to keep the recording as clean as possible.

I don't know if this has anything to do with your problem but with the previous Traktor I had problems because of the limiter, prefs:mixer/level/enable limiter.
Don't know if this influences the recording level though.

    Good luck..msz ;)

I turn the master off as I have limiters further down the chain.
