Auto-name groups based on 1st assigned instrument/sound

One of the biggest annoyances for me is that I often do this:

- Start new project
- hit Group A -> Load a drum kit from GROUPS into Group A, the Group gets re-named to the group's name (like LinnDrum.. great)
- hit Group B -> Load a bass sound from INSTRUMENTS into Group B - but the group name just stays B1

What I really wish it would do would be to use the Instrument 'Type' category (like 'Bass') to auto name the Group if it's the first sound in the Group. I really hate having to go mouse into the GUI and type in 'Bass' every time. And so on for other non-kit groups.

I can't tell you how much of an improvement this would be for me, and probably other people who prefer to work on the controller only.

 

I'd like an option for it to do that too, along with various other naming-related improvements (especially samples/recording - that needs serious work). I think it would be best if it only changed the name if the user hadn't already changed it.

 

Yep if it had that caveat, I don't see how anyone could disagree with adding this.

 

I might still have to rename it sometimes, but at least name it something. I usually name the Group after the plug I use (Serum, Falcon) or type of instruments (Keys, Bass, etc.). +1
