It turned out to be an issue of "max ID" - this was initially set to 48 in the original Carbon 2 ens. With almost 290 parameters in use, most of them disappeared after sort and compress. Setting max ID to (maxID in use +1) brought back the lost knobs. However, many of the modulation parameters (right hand side of the ens) weren't and are still not accessible. I wonder if that is because of the multipicture layout (is that stacked macros?).

    tymes2 (or anybody)

In Logic I get ensembles (with auto save enabled) which, for no apparent reason, start prompting me to save. The only way around this is to reinstantiate the plug and create a new autosave (simply creating a new one does not work). That resets it. It is particularly annoying because it asks for each ensemble and takes about 1 minute for the dialogs to get moving-it makes saving your session very cumbersome. Freezing or running the session off another system is the only thing I suspect right now....all permissions are good or off.

Does anybody else get this? OS X 10.4.3. Logic Pro 7.1.1 (and it happens with earlier versions). Reaktor 5. Latest Quicktime, ProAppSupport, everything up to date.

    Thanks

Which auto-save are you referring to - 'Save this instance automatically' or 'Automatic saving by default in this song'? I occasionally get the saving prompt you mention when I choose to uncheck one of them (I think it's the 'save by default') and then save the logic song. I don't get it with both auto-save options checked. 7.1.1 / 10.4.3 / ProAppS 3.1 etc.

OK, just thought I'd check. I get it with both enabled, I can save the ens as a new one (and many other methods)....reinstantiating is all I can do as a workaround, which can break things from time to time. Thanks for listing.

Just thought I would add, I use Reaktor in Logic and Ableton Live 5, in both cases as an audio unit. The parameter names don't come up in Logic (as you said, I see P0001 or something), but yes, they do come up in Ableton Live, as I recently discovered.

I had thought it was a reaktor thing, but nope, the parameters come up in Live even for ensembles I download from the User Library. That was a nice suprise. Kinda leaves me scratching my head since Logic was supposed to be my main midi app, ableton more for loops. But with Live's clip envelopes, and parameter names coming up for reaktor, its starting to look like a better option than Logic's track automation or Hyper editor (which also doesn't display parameter names).

Hmm... you do save the ensemble to a new location, do you? With both auto-save options checked, you're asked to pick a location to where to save the ens. It's a good idea to save it to the project folder Logic creates when "save as project" is used. You probably know that, just thought I'd mention it...

I've been trying to figure out how to automate snapshot changes in Logic 7.1.1. Mostly drum machine-esque ensembles- Intelekt, LimeLite, Rontgen,...Can anyone translate the numbers, if Logic doesn't label the parameters. Or, is the snapshot a constant?
    Thanks,
    Duane
