I'm using Battery to trigger backing drum tracks remotely from my keyboard. I use an AHDSR envelope with a 0dB sustain and short release, with the sample set to latch, so that I can start and stop the sample with the same key. This is great for practicing since I don't have to let the drums run all the way through. Unfortunately, I've found that even after the drums stop I HAVE to press the key again, twice, to retrigger the sample, because Battery thinks that the cell is still in play mode. So essentially the first key press after starting the sample silences the cell, regardless of whether the sample has long since ended or not.

I've tried everything, but I can't get it to work right. The sample ALWAYS requires two key presses after ending. In this particular tune (drums for Strawberry Fields), I can actually manage it, but it's weird, and a little scary.

I think this could be something NI didn't think about when using this feature. Maybe this is in fact a bug. Have you spoken to someone at NI?

No, but I should. There's probably some workaround, if not in Battery than in Kontakt.

In this particular instance, I decided to skip the latching altogether, and simply playthrough with no means to stop it. Each sample is fairly short, about 20seconds, so it's not like I have to wait 5 minutes if I need to stop during rehearsal. In performance, this is a different story, but I figured it would be much more of a concern to have to press the button twice then to risk the off chance that I accidently trigger it without wanting to.

Latching SHOULD detect sample completion, though, or at the very least have the option of doing so (though I can't for the life of me think of a situation where you wouldn't want it to).

Dunno if I should bother though, it looks like NI doesn't have any plans to update Battery for a while, I highly doubt they have anyone on it.
