    What is everyones back up of choice when using the S4 ? Its the one thing that lets it down in my opinion. Other controllers have usb slots and cd slots so you can quickly change - but if the S4 / laptop goes down mid gig your practically screwed...!?

    So you would run your s4 to an external mixer then run that out to your speakers. Use the external mixer channels for mic and back up ?

    With my own gear, no, as I don't have an external mixer. The S4 output goes to my PA speakers and I have the iPad directly plugged into one of the speakers spare inputs. It's an imperfect backup, as I would go from my booming two tops and sub to just a single top unless I quickly reconfigure one of the cables to link in the other top.

    If it helps you to visualize, I have QSC K12s that have two 1/4 XLR input jacks as well as an additional RCA input - which is how I connect the iPad using a 3.5mm to Dual RCA lead.
