Bad Hard Drive with Komplete 8 Ultimate

    Better to image the whole disk with a good tool for that. On Mac Disk Utility does the job perfectly well, while I'm a bit behind on what's good for Windows anymore. But you should have been able to find the contents. If you just want to copy files directly on a Mac, use Terminal. If you don't know how, use Disk Utility :)

    If on Windows, I doubt any files should be hidden other than what you set your OS to hide.

    Here also no luck with the Utlimate HD that arrived today. DOA. No way the disc is being recognized by Disk Utility. Also no metronome groove box.

    Are the only ones having issues being sent to USA? Just wondered if wonderful Homeland Security is spot checking and zapping these packages with something, because 911 is almost here.

    Funny...

    I told NI that there were going to be more and more complaints about the hard drive, and they told me that I was the only one. We are way past two weeks since I have heard anything. But they still have my $500.

    Finally Resolved!

    Hey guys, just wanted to update you all on my DOA HD situation. I went back to Guitar Center and the guy there was super cool and ordered me a replacement copy. It came in on Friday. I went by Sat AM am swapped them out. Went home and with fingers crossed... Installed my K8U. All is well.

    Today (Monday) I get an email from NI with a UPS label for the old drive and a note that it could take up to 4 weeks to replace.

    So I suggest... go back to the retailer if you purchased it from one. AND I got 15% off the NI price. Way to go Guitar Center Lewisville! Thanks to Julian. You Rock!

    Good luck all.

    BTW, Don't forget that once your issues are resolved... this software is worth the wait.
    This is all for now... back to making K8U music!

    For my own case, I'm still waiting, but I should receive a new one in few days, as NI told me by email.

    Just be patient.
    I kwow, it's easy to say it...

    Did you guys try plugging in both ends of the Y usb cable into the computer? Could it be a not enough power from one USB port issue?

    I tried to put the 2 USB cables in my Mac Pro, but nothing happened. Also hooked it up to a Win computer and tried another cable, no success.

    5 days gone since i witnessed NI, no reaction yet.

    I finally received a new HD from NI, and all is fine.
    But, you have to be patient.
    I guess NI is probably under pressure since they annonced K8, and now they have to handle the feedback.
    They, for sure, did not want you to get a bad product, as any company that want to keep their cutomers happy, but I really do think that they should make some great efforts on customer relation.
    A simple kind email saying that they are sorry and that they do care about your problem really make the difference.
    Be patient again when you received your brand new HD, because it takes about 2 hours to install, but the cool thing is that the install process does not ask you any question. You start it, you tell where, and you can go and take a lap, because after that, you'll have a fu.... short night !

    At last, just blame the "made in china" !

    I just got my Maschine on Friday afternoon, just received the Ultimate Upgrade in the mail from Guitar Center and the thing is dead! I'm vehemently angry about this. If what I'm reading is correct from the posts, I have to mail my drive to corporate and then wait to get it back?

    Come on now, I've saved for months in order to make this purchase and to have very irresponsible wrapping and inner packaging from NI to protect the drive, what is going on? I've never posted on these pages or even think that it matters, but for those who are buying and investing their reputation behind NI products, their has to some sort of accountability from NI.

    I'm on this site and really freaked! I built my production studio around this company and if they told you that this is not an issue, I'm wondering integrity. Are the products exported from overseas the products that are coming up DOA and why would they invest so little thinking into protecting their product?

    I may not be able to say who my employer is, but I will mention this to them. Lets just say that they are the largest, most publicly recognized company in the world.

    I have a bad HDD here too. Rushed home to a defective drive. I'm so mad. I waited a MONTH! Hope I can get an overnight shipment PLUS non-expiring vouchers for a FUTURE product.

    If anyone has Tuxera NTFS installed on their mac, that could cause a problem too.

    Surely GC would have to replace it for you. Or get your money back.

    I'm not sure of the relevance of this - are they big users of NI products?

    I just got Komplete 8 couple of days ago and found that I have two bad installation DVD's in it, Disk G and Disk H.

    What should I do?

    What I did is send a support msg to their support team and explain the situation. I was missing a disk (what was in it's place was a dup of another disk in the pkg) , and within 2 days or so I got an email that another set of Komplete 8 was sent out. I got that probably within 3-4 days. This new K8 box did not have a serial number assigned to it, so you'll have to use the serial number of your original box.

    I have registered my Komplete 8 with what I could install.

    But I have bought from AudioMIDI, will it do?

    Same problem - Komplete 8 external Hard drive not working

    Same problem here - the Komplete 8 external hard drive is not working.

    I already tried on 6 computers (5 PCs on Windows 7 and one Mac Pro on OS Lion).

    The HDD light is on, I can hear some spinning inside, but the hard drive is not showing up. I even tried to plug its second USB cable for extra power... zero, nada..

    When you pay $1000 and they give you the cheapest junk drive that cots only 40$ (I've check the price on the internet for it and it seems that Native Instruments uses cheap Toshiba)

    German quality:angry::angry::angry:... really ?

    Oh, this all sounds scary and I got my problem too.

    Yesterday I tried to connect the Komplete 8 Ultimate USB cable. It was very hard to put it into the slot of the hard drive, so I pushed a little bit more and it worked but must have damaged the contact within the drive. That's the end for now.

    And as it is not installed yet on my mac of course I cannot use the Tech support because I have no version or registration number to give.

    So I have to call them on Monday between 11am and 5pm (their business hours for tech support) but my business hours are from 10 to 6 and I'm hardly able or allowed to call during work.

    What a nice x-mas thing :(
