    Hi all,

    after releasing the UB version of Bandstand, we now have the long awaited Quickload preset available for download. please note the disclaimers and warnings in the readme which I also added below.

    to cut a long story short, this preset will improve loading times dramatically for the majority of users. it will not work in certain scenarios which are mostly related to limited memory.

    however, the Bandstand team wants to make this update available at least as a service on the user forum. at this point, this update is not included in the Update Manager and unsupported.

    enjoy,
    Markus

    1. Introduction
    ==================================================================

    Thank you very much for downloading the BANDSTAND Quickload
    preset! This preset solves the problem of long instrument loading
    times either at the beginning of a song or during a song. This
    preset is provided as is - Native Instruments does not provide any
    support for scenarios in which this preset does not work as
    expected or shows side effects like the ones listed below.

    WARNING!

    You need to have at least 1.25 GB of RAM installed! If using any
    other applications, 2 GB are strongly recommended.

    Do NOT use this preset on machines with 1 GB of RAM or below!
    Depending on your operating system, you memory will fill up and be
    swapped out to your hard disk. This can result in any of the
    following: Slowdown, freeze, or crash of the whole system.
    BANDSTAND cannot prevent this from happening.

    Installation:

    * Close BANDSTAND
    * Copy the NKM file contained in this Zip file to the Presets
    folder in your BANDSTAND library

    Usage:

    * Start BANDSTAND
    * Select the Quickload preset from the Prest drop-down list
    * Play back your MIDI files

    2. Version History
    ==================================================================

    Version 12/12/06

    - This is the first version of the Quickload preset. All samples are
    preloaded into RAM when loading this preset. This will take about
    1 to 2 minutes depending on your machine. Program changes times
    are then minimized to splitseconds per instrument.

    - See the last section of the following document for more details.
    This file is installed with the BANDSTAND 1.0.2 update and located
    in the Documentation folder inside the application folder.

    3. Important Notes
    ==================================================================

    - Make sure that you have at least 1.25 GB installed before loading
    this prest. Your machine might otherwise slow down, freeze, or
    crash because your memory is full and being swapped to your hard
    drive.

    - If you are using any other applications but Bandstand at the same
    time, e.g. a sequencer,2 GB of RAM are strongly recommended!

    ==================================================================
    4. Known Limitations and Issues
    ==================================================================

    - The preset loading status might appear to be stuck although the
    samples are being loaded in the background. Please wait 1 - 2
    minutes for the whole preset to load. You can check the progress
    e.g. in the Task Manager.

    - Pressing the New Preset button will reload the empty default
    preset that is loaded at the start of the application. You should
    adjust your workflow accordingly and not use this button or any
    other preset in combination with this preset.

    - The internal MIDI file player will still wait for all presets to
    finish loading before starting playback. If time is critical for
    you, please us an external MIDI player and a virtual MIDI cable to
    load and play back at the same time.

    - Professional MIDI files will contain 2 - 3 empty bars at the
    beginning of the song and about 2 silent bars between two
    different instruments on the same channel. If you still have
    problems with instruments not being loaded in time, ensure that
    your song optimizes the above settings.
