... sorry, this is not quite what I expected.

When I doubleclick a .mid file, bandstand opens and plays the file. :)

When I double click the next one, another instance of bandstand appears  and plays nothing at all.

If i leave this second useless instance open, the first instance seems to remain functional. If I close the second instance, the first one becomes non-functional and i must close both of them.

So I have (except for the very first file) the same situation as before: I have to locate MIDI files via 'file open' dialog of the bandstand internal midi file player.

    Regards,
    Ruediger

Well, it's not quite completely useless.

With 1.0.2, my sequencer crashes if Bandstand is in the list of available VST plugins, even if I am not using it. WIth 1.0.3, the crash goes away. Moreover, I can now use Bandstand to play a single MIDI file by clicking on it.

It is true that it would be better if this other problem were fixed, but no doubt it will be fixed in 1.0.4 sometime in late 2008 :)

    Hi all,

hm, I guess we only had the use case to open Bandstand and load the MIDI file when Bandstand is not open already.

when the GUI is open, you can use the new feature to drag another MIDI file onto the player, right?

    best,
    Markus

Yes, that seems to work. I guess clicking a .MID file while the player is running should ideally have exactly the same effect.

    Hi all,

ideally yes. I am not sure though if this is technically possible since I just realized that indeed Kontakt also opens a second instance when double-clicking on another NKI file.

will keep this in mind as a research item for the a future update!

    best,

It has to be possible, because Finale does it.

While you're at it, you might try arranging for Bandstand to have an appropriate icon for .MID files when it is associated with them. Right now we see a generic-looking Windows icon.

I had checked this out and it did not work for me, so I started this thread.

Now I have retested it and found that it works, if i drop the files exactly on the player area of the GUI. This I did not expect, because the curser becomes an arrow with '+' at any place of the GUI.

By the way, I would appreciate, if I could drop the files on any visible place of the GUI.

Dropping a MIDI file on the GUI window works.

Merely clicking a MIDI file while Bandstand is alread running does not work.
