Bandstand and Logic Platinum

Hi all
I can not get Bandstand to record properly in Logic platinum 5.5.1. In the forum I found a suggestion to create a new multi-instrument and route its output to an instrument track with bandstand as VST virtual instrument.
So I set up a multi-instrument with 16 tracks named Multi 1 to 16 plus a Bandstand instrument track.

The result:
I can record on the bandstand Instrument track playing midi channel x (x=1 to 16) notes. Then I can drag the recorded part to the Multi 1 track, but I CAN NOT record directly to the Multi 1 track because I need to record enable the Multiinstrument to hear anything and Logic allows only one MIDI track to be record enabled!
So how can I set it up ? (maybe someone having the solution can send me a logic song file or a screen of an environment working?)
