I'm using BANDSTAND as both VST in Band-In-A-Box and standalone having the same problem when I create a WAV file (from either environment).

In my songs I frequently change instruments in certain channels. For example, in Channel 4 (melody for Band-In-A-Box) I may start with "Strings", change to "Alto Sax" and then change back to "Strings". In Channel 7 (Guitar) I may change from "Acoustic" to "Overdrive" etc.

When I play back the song within Band-In-A-Box all changes are reflected Ok depended on the latency. When I produce the WAV however one or more instrument changes are lost.

The same exactly happens when I load the song as MIDI into the Standalone BANDSTAND.

The problem is there no matter if I use ASIO or MME. No matter of the ASIO Buffer Size (I am using ASIO4ALL and I've tried buffers 64,128,256,512,768,1024 and 2048)

Any idea what I should do from anyone?

Is the "PC" button on the lower right of BS un-crossed? If it has a slash through it, that means it will not accept Program Changes, and could cause the problem.

Make sure, when you save your file in Band in a Box, you use the "Save Song with Patches & Harmony" option in the File menu. Then load it into BS and it should work.

Your audio driver/buffer settings should have no effect on this, unless you have your latency set too low, which would choke the audio processing and cause pauses, gaps, and other undersirable things. Use whatever driver suits you best, and just adjust latency so it plays back correctly.

Thanks dburnz for your time. I think I've carefully checked all the ones you are kindly suggesting but I' ll try once more to make it absolutely sure.

Unfortunately, no matter what I did the problem remains. The WAVs produced don't recognize instrument changes.

    I would appreciate any suggestions.

If you like, you can email one of the MIDI files that doesn't render properly and I'll test it.

What audio hardware are you using, built-in soundcard or other? Are you using BS and BiaB's built-in "render to wave" functions? If you have a sequencer, try loading the MIDI file and see if the same problem happens. Also, try running the file through a sequencer into another MIDI module, say the MS GS Software Synth included with Windows (check the "Sounds & Audio Devices" applet in the Control Panel). Or, try choosing the MS Synth as destination within BiaB.

It's strange that BS is not responding to PCs embedded in the MIDI files.

Just to clarify: the file plays fine, but the problem occurs only when rendering to WAV?

    Hi :)

This forum apparently won't let me post my email address in the usual way, probably to prevent spammers from grabbing it.

I have spelled out the address below, just replace "at" with "@" and remove any spaces, and it will work. Or, if you prefer, post your address and I'll send you a message to establish contact.

I think I solved the problem. Since I have the "Use DXi Synth" Checked, I put "MIDI Input Driver" to <none>, "MIDI Output Driver" to <none> and unchecked the "Route MIDI thru to MIDI driver".

    Thanks for the help.
