Will NI please tell us if 'development stopped', as relayed by Tech Support to a user on another thread, is true? The least NI can do is put us out of our misery.

    Quite so!

I'm enraged! This is unacceptable to provide software I cannot get to work properly, and then abandon it.

If this is true, I will never buy another NI product.

    Hi all,

that is not true! development is still going on as the recent UB update shows and the quickload multi that I just posted some weeks ago!

    who told you this?

Glad to hear the product is "alive and well." I do appreciate the way it works in the WINDOWS XP platform. Thank you NI for replying to this thread.

Great, many thanks, Markus. We were missing you!

The comment supposedly from Tech Support is a bit of a mystery then?

    Glad to hear it Marcus.

Yes, I cannot open midi files at all in standalone mode. I can navigate to them when I click the icon, click open: and nothing happens!

Nothing at all. No change whatsoever.

It seems others have this problem too (I use a Mac). The program runs fine (if sluggish) as a Digital Performer plug-in: so it will play midi files -- just not ones BS opens directly.

I have tried dozens of different midi files, some made by DP, some by Cubase, some bought from retailers, some imported from the Net ... same result every time.

I really hope you can solve this for me and others who seem to be having similar problems.

And I am relieved to hear that NI is continuing with BS maintenance.

    Hello all,

I'm very glad to hear about further updates.

I do not want to cause trouble for anybody, but here is what I received in a mail from NI:

    -----------------------------------------

    Hello Rüdiger B....,

da wir die Entwicklung an Bandstand eingestellt haben, wird es da wahrscheinlich keine Änderungen geben.
    .....
    Viele Grüsse

    -----------------------------------------

    Bye,
    Ruediger

Which translates (if my schoolboy German is any good after all these years) as:

"since we stopped the development of Bandstand, there will be
probably be no more modifications there" :( :S

I suggest Marcus talks to Viele and gets back to us.

    Bandstand not dropped.

Bandstand will not be dropped as I wrote in a reply to a support query.
I am sorry for the confusion about this, sorry for spreading a wrong information.
    Bandstand will enjoy further developing.

    best regards

Thanks, Rico. That's a relief to a lot of us! I love the product and use it often. Here's to future enhancements like add-on sample packs, e.g. 'Better Guitars', 'More Brass', etc.

    Thanks Rico.

It's good to know we're not being abandoned.

Now, I'd just be happy if Bandstand would open my midi files in standalone mode.

What is NI going to do about that?

    Indeed a relief

to know Bandstand still gets support for further development. And I'm glad to see that NI is an 'open house'. Glad to hear from you again Markus.

There is a similar issue with Kontakt 2.2: double-clicking an nki file will launch the application but won't load the instrument; this hasn't been fixed for months, and the workaround [on Apple machines] is to drag the file icon onto a running Kontakt's icon (or into some empty space of the instrument space). Bandstand will also load midi files that are dragged onto its icon just the same, as long as it is running.

    Hi Ruediger,

one thing I have on my list is to get the double-click on MIDI files working again. I believe we broke this when doing the UB update.

    best,
    Markus
