Markus, in the past there was some thought of making changes in the Bandstand Wavetable, e.g., a smaller wavetable which could be fully loaded into memory, users could install their own choice of wavetable (soundfonts, etc.), user could replace existing instruments with higher quality ones and so on. Is this still under consideration?

    Hi Frank,

unfortunately the only thing I could push through for now was the quickload preset. with Kore 2 etc. there is no time in sound design to optimize the wavetable like you mention below.

as for the loading of SF2 sounds and replacement of sounds I now think the SF2 import is too complicated to get done in a way that would work automatically. the same goes for other Kontakt libraries since there are so many special scripts in the Bandstand patches that also only work when the patches use specific effects and modulators.

I believe that in general you can already take a patch from e.g. Kontakt, rename it to one of Bandstand names and replace a Bandstand patch under the Default folder (do not forget to also copy the samples!). the problem with this is that the patch will not support any of the GM commands not even the Bandstand mixer volume and pan. right?

what I could offer, similar to my quickload preset instructions in this forum, is to provide a volunteer with detailed instructions on how to convert patches in Kontakt 2 so that they are compatible with Bandstand and provide those to the user community. that person would have to sign an NDA in order to get the templates and instructions. it is a lot of manual work, though, and includes deleting existing modulators and recreating them etc.

    best,
    Markus

Markus, thanks for your kind response. I will keep using Bandstand in its present design.

    Thank you
