I'm having a little trouble with a third party Kontakt instrument. (If you want to see if you can replicate it, it's the Federation Bells kontakt library, which is at: http://federationbells.com.au/play-the-bells/composing-for-the-bells).

Anyway, I downloaded it, moved the content sample library and the .nki file into its own folder (as a subfolder of every other kontakt instrument & library that I have), and then copied a link to the .nki in Quick load. So far, so good.

However, whenever I try to open this .nki, I get the irritating message about "content missing". From the location of the error message, it would appear that whoever built this .nki embedded their file location, which was on their Windows D: drive. While I do run Windows (11), I don't have a D: drive.

"So", I thought "time to try batch resave". I do the batch resave process, as described in the NI help documentation. The problem is that it doesn't seem to work. It doesn't give any error messages saying that the content is missing, but the next time I reload the .nki I get the "content missing" error message again.

I can fix it, each time I use the .nki, by tediously going through the Resolve Manually process and telling Kontakt where the folder is. In case you are wondering, I +am+ doing this in the standalone Kontakt, vs. in my DAW. (I've seen refs to the latter being troublesome, but that is officially not the problem here.)

There must be a way to fix this, but I cannot find any help content that gives a clue as to what to do next...

After you locate the samples, save the .nki.

edit: on the save as dialogue, if “Absolute Path” is checked, uncheck it. That way if you need to relocate again, files wil be found relative to the main instrument folder…
