Battery 2 with Multi Channel in Logic

    Hi all,
I'm using Logic 5.5.1 with PC.
I'm not able to use Battery 2 in Multi Channel mode. It doesen't appear in the list. I can only use it in simple stereo mode.
Does someone else has experienced the same problem?
    Could you gimme a solution?

    Thanks in advance!!!

Good that I waited for the release before ordering it. I was already suspicious since many newer plugins' multiouts don't work in Logic anymore. As far as I know nothing has changed in the VST 2.0 protocol, so why manufacturers (seem to) decide not to support Logic properly anymore is mysterious. I know many people who still use Logic, so it can only be in the interest of the manufacturers to properly develop their products...can't be so hard is it?
Well, if it would work I'd definitely buy Battery 2, but if it doesn't I can't be arsed to bother...I was able to make my tunes without so far. :)

it's a shame that multichannel doesn't work with logic 5.51
I know so many people using battery1 and logic on pc...

the only thing holding it back from working as a multichannel plug in logic is that it has 32 outs and no option to reduce that number... logic will refuse to regocnise a plugin as multichannel if it is configured to used more than 16 outs, so all NI really needs to do to help us logic PC users out is to give us the option to specify the number of outs we want, like they do in kontakt and kompakt... which shouldn't be too hard seeing as battery 2 is built to a certain extent on kontakt....

really looks to me like they just forgot to stick in the option of configuring how many outs u want... and once they stick it back in, we just gotta specifiy 8 stereo outs rather than the current 8 stereo and 16 mono & we're back in business...

please NI, please could you implement this in a swift update? :D

Actually you can't change the # of outputs in Kontakt/Kompakt/Intakt ... That is what I fear.

Hey, atleast I don't use logic, I just have 22 channels of crap in my mixer that is giving me a freakin' headache.

yeah you can actually but u gotta do it in a round-about way... open kontakt standalone, go options and in one of the pages is the option to change the number of mono and stereo outs... anything adding up to 16 individual channels will make kontakt available as a multichannel plugin in logic... if you've already been using kontakt then the final step is to delete logic's "Kontakt.cfg" file in the VstPlugins directory and restart logic so it can reconfigure the plugin for use in logic... it should come up as a multichannel plugin now :)

that's what we need for battery 2 to make it work as a multichannel plug... an option in the standalone version to change the number of outs, so we can change it to any combo adding up to 16...

once again, please please please can this be included in a hasty update? :D

Ah, wow. I never noticed that before, since I barely ever use the standalone versions. Thanks for the tip! :)

muzza23 is right, thats the problem at the moment. The good news is, the actual beta has already the possibilty to change the number of output, so the next update will fix this problem.

    Best Regards,
    Steffen

Hooray! :D Thank-you Steffen! :D It is interesting that logic is supposed to support "Up to 64 multi-channel outputs per audio instrument" according to the manual but in reality only supports 16 :(

Thank-you again Steffen and hopefully the update will be sooner rather than later ;)

    thankyou Julian...

the battery 2 manual actually lists logic 5.51 on PC as supported by battery 2, so was this an error? even if it's not "officially supported" anymore, if the next update works with multi-outs then i suppose it doesn't matter ;)

Thanks for the info Julian! But muzza23 is right. According to the manual Logic 5.51 is supported.
Is there an approximate release date for the update?

    Hi all,

We are shooting for Q4 '04 or "before the holidays".

I am sorry about the missprint in the manual - it seems that the table was copied from some other manual and not adjusted to the recent change in NI support policy.

thanks for the approximate date of the update... shame about logic pc support being dropped, but what will the effect of that be? obviously future updates will not be guaranteed to work properly in logic, but will we still be able to post in this forum for instance and get responses from you guys about logic issues and possible workarounds?

Thanks for the info Markus. I have some workaround until the update comes out which enables multiout support in Logic. Get any hexeditor and open the Battery2VST.cfg file residing in the VSTPlugin folder.

Then look for the value 20 which is the first value in the second line and change it to 10 (=16 Outs). Save the file, write protect it and boot Logic. After you put the plugin into an insert slot, Logic tells you that the outputs changed from 16 to 32 and wants a reboot...just don't do that. It will complain every time you load the plugin into a slot but that's not too bad is it? =)

    Have fun!

    Hi all,

I just confirmed with our support manager that the official support for Logic PC is over. However, we see no problem with answering questions in this forum for the time being.

Roland, clever hack! just don't expect any support with side effects ;-)

    Best,
    Markus
