No matter which drum kit I pick, only the first pad (#1) gets populated.

anybody else finding this to be the case?

It's an instrument. Switch Pad Mode to Keyboard when using it.

I know the process is a bit convoluted and not exactly 'plug and play', but just follow this video up until the 3:00 minute mark. From there, just Transpose (in Channel, Output, Midi; see attached screenshot) each Sound slot (or Pad) to the sound in Battery you want that pad to trigger.

Do you have a link to the video you referenced? I'd like to see how to do this. Thanks.

I still keep hoping native can sort this out so you dont have to jump threw hoops too use battery in maschine.
Is there a way too create custom kits using the drum samples in maschine

Agreed...not sure what you are asking here though? Just to be clear, the Battery sounds do auto map to the Maschine pads sequentially. You just need to be in Keyboard mode in Maschine and then you scroll through the Octave; every sound is mapped to the pads. If you had say a full keyboard controller in your studio, you'd be able to play a different sound on each note, automatically.

What I'm not clear on is whether you're asking if you can use Maschine sounds to create custom Battery kits or whether it's possible to create custom Battery kits and play them with Maschine? If it's the latter, you can create custom kits in Battery and then trigger the sounds either sequentially in Maschine or via the method shown, changing Transpose to the notes required.

You could also customize the source of the sounds per pad in Battery: Right click and Replace sample. First, gather all the sounds you want in a folder somewhere, or Navigate to the Maschine sounds folder and click the sound you want to have replace the current cell. Make sure you are doing so in a custom kit of your creation or a duplicate of a current kit if you don't want to write over the factory presets permanently.

...like Anton, depending on what you want, I would have a couple of different answers, so could you specify what you mean? In my view also NI quite often misses to create synergy effects for using their products in conjunction, but it might be that, due to technical reasons, this would not apply to the case with Battery and Maschine...

...OK - need to correct myself here. As a preliminary note, I don't use Battery in Maschine, as I don't see any benefit, since I already have all the basics that I need in Maschine itself. And since the Battery Factory Kits exceed 16 sounds I think it's logical that they can only be treated like one polyphonic sound in Maschine, as opposed to using 16 "monophonic" sounds that the Maschine kits are.

However, I just set up a group template with Battery (with a 4x4 cell matrix) and I routed the 15 remaining Maschine pads to the first one containing the plug-in and also set their root key to match the root key of the Battery cells - so everything's cool.

Now - loading samples. I can't drag the Battery samples from the Maschine browser to Battery - not so cool. So, if that's one of your points, djwaxxy, I agree. You'd have to work with two different libraries and two different browsers. Though Battery can do a few more things than Maschine, Personally, I don't see a real benefit using it, because if I needed that extra functionality I would use Kontakt for that, since I'm using it all the time and one Kontakt instrument is basically one instance of Battery (hence I can have up to 64 in one Kontakt instance). But not everyone has Kontakt and also Battery 4 kits can't even be loaded into Kontakt anymore, so everything gets a bit complicated...

sorry I didn't ask clearly it was a late night lol
I just wanted to know if it was possible to use the individual sounds contained in battery too create a custom maschine kit.so can you see all the sounds in battry4 within the maschine browser as samples and just drag them to pads.thanks

The Battery samples are already listed in the Maschine browser. Choose the "Battery" bank in the sample tab of the Maschine browser. And dragging to Maschine pads or Battery pads? To the Maschine pads from the Maschine browser - yes, to Battery cells - no.

Ok, lol...here we are thinking it's more complicated than it is...shoulda waited for your answer first.
The Battery library of samples are already automatically in Maschine's library if you have Battery. Just follow these steps:

    1. go find the names of the sounds in the Battery kit you want.
    2. write them down. If you want to see where they live in Battery you can locate them in the Samples tab of the Battery browser, right click, and choose Find in Finder, but for the purposes of what we're doing you don't need that.
    3. go to Maschine's browser under the Samples tab and type in (or copy-paste) the name of the sound you want.
    4. drag it to the pad on Maschine
    5. rinse and repeat until all 16 pads are full (if that's what you want)
    6. name your new custom group by double clicking it in the Arranger window (where your Groups are listed to the left of your Scenes) and typing a new name.
    7. right click on the group name and choose: Save As
    8. your custom group will now be available for you, under your User files, All Groups tab (where the Kits live in Maschine).

I've included an abbreviated version with Screenshots attached.

p.s. the Battery kits use a different extension than Maschine, so you will not be able to browse them as they exist in Battery within Maschine. You can and must locate the individual samples in Maschine to recreate them if you want to save a User kit in Maschine, at least as far as I know. Would be cool if there was a way to translate Battery Kits directly to Maschine ones...
