After updating from Komplete 9 to 13, I have noticed that some Maschine Expansion Battery kits are now missing from my library.

The packs missing are: Crate Cuts, DJ Khalil, Decoded Forms, Deep Matter, Faded Reels, Ignition Codes, Indigo Dust, London Grit, Sasha and Timeless Glow. I get the error 'battery 4_info.nkx missing' when I try to locate the folders within the preferences panel.

I have attached all screenshots of the problem and my library here:

This has only happened since I upgraded Komplete, the kits read fine on the Maschine plugin.

I have reinstalled Battery 4, rescanned the library in standalone mode, restarted my computer, deleted from trash, all the standard advice given - but all with the same error. There are posts online with this same problem but no one seems to have solved it or posted the answer to the fix. Please see attached my screenshot.

Hopefully someone can advise me of a fix!

    Thanks in advance

Did you find a fix for this as I'm experiencing the same issue?

    Hey Paul,
You shouldn't need to locate these files, it seems they are already in your preferences anyway. How do you see they are missing ? If you look for them following these steps, you can't find them ?
How To Load an Expansion Kit / Sample in BATTERY 4
What is the format of your external hard drive, it should be MacOS extended or APFS, if not, this is where the issue is coming from. Then you need to re-format the drive using your Disk Utility : Notes on Hard Drive Formats on Mac Computers

    Hey tidemotel,
Is this happening on other expansion kits ? Where are your expansions installed ? Can you load the Battery 4 Library kits ? What operating system are you on ?

    Im using Mac Catalina 10.15.17

I can load the other kits but not Deep Matter or London Grit. I've re-installed both packs and still they are not being read. The expansions are installed onto a Native Instruments folder on my hard drive (Not an iCloud documents folder) Screen Shot 2021-02-15 at 10.07.44 AM.png Screen Shot 2021-02-15 at 10.07.49 AM.png

Got the same problems on Windows 10 install after updating to Komplete 13 UC Edtn.

Libraries affected for me are anima ascent, aquarius earth, basement era, byte riot, carbon decay, dj khalil, decoded forms, deep matter, district xeo, faded reels, global shake, golden kingdom, headland flow, ignition code, indigo dust, infamous flow, infinite escape, lockdown grind, london grit, magnetic coast, meteoric rise, midnight sunset, opaline drift, polar flare, pure drip, sasha, street swarm, the stereotypes, timeless glow, warped symmetry

I can load these kits from Battery Library browser but need to resolve the "Missing Samples" error message every time. Bit of a nuisance more than anything. Is there a fix for this yet?

Cheers Jeremy, I've done that snd look forward to finding out what's wrong.

In the meantime, as a workaround I've found that if I load one of the kits from the expansion packs mentioned via the browser and then use the "Resolve Manually, Point to Folder" option to select the "Samples" directory under the installed expansion pack folder, (e.g. D:\Native Instruments\Anima Ascent\Samples), the kit works fine. Also, if you then "File Menu, Save Kit As..., Patch Only" back to the installed expansion folder, (e.g. D:\Native Instruments\Anima Ascent\Sounds\Battery Kits\Anima Ascent All Claps Kit.nbkt), subsequent selection of the kit from the browser works without the missing samples error. This workaround doesn't however remove the expansions showing the folder icon and missing file Battery 4_info.nkx error from the Edit, Preferences, Library Tab error, but no biggy really.

Thanks for your help, best regards, Darrell.

Honestly, running into this and I'm going to start asking for a refund tomorrow if I cannot resolve it with a reinstall. From what I've seen on these forums, there is practically no support for this issue. A vast majority of the threads about it have literally no replies.

While I didn't get rid of the error, repairing the necessary expansion packs (in my case I moved them to a different drive letter manually and could not use the built in function within Battery to Rescan and manually Load the new location), I was able to reload the damaged expansion packs correctly though not all of them.
    1. Close out of Battery
    2. Open Native Access and login
    3. choose from the left hand column "Installed Products"
    4. Scroll up or down and locate any Expansion Pack that shows "Repair" or Reinstall if you prefer
    5. Click the Repair option
    6. Choose Relocate
    7. On the next screen you'll see the original Path in red text, Choose Browse
    8. Browse to the location where the Expansion Pack resides (in Windows the default location is: C:\Users\[your user name]
    9. Repeat Steps 3 - 8 until there are no more Repairs visible. After all of this some (not all) Expansion packs still display this error such as Faded Reels, Anima Ascent, Aquarious Earth, Basement Era, Byte Riot, Carbon Decay and many others. The way you can tell where the issues are is to go into Battery, under Edit | Preferences, Library, you'll see only a few expansion packs have Folder icons right before the path. Once you click any of those, the Error appears. This is true for other Expansion Packs such as Decoded Forms, Indigo Dust and several others. I do believe NI should clean this up. I've done a search on every single drive letter from the root forward, this missing file doesn't exist anywhere.
Lastly, after rescanning a few times, the above Expansion packs are displayed under Library | Kits | Factory, I then search Anima and walla, 7 Anima Kits appear.

david, I just added this last step about 10 minutes ago after pursuing this issue a bit more: "Lastly, after rescanning a few times, the above Expansion packs are displayed under Library | Kits | Factory, I then search Anima and walla, 7 Anima Kits appear." Try this same procedure and see if your missing kits appear. Unfortunately, the error is still present but perhaps somewhat of a mute point.

Seems to be a problem with how those kits/expansion packs were authored as I have issues with similar titles:

    Byte Riot
    Decoded Forms
    Distric Xeo
    Global Shake
    Indigo Dust
    Londo Grit
    Magnetic Coast
    Warped Symmetry
    Opaline Drift

    Hey Murali,
Did you move content after installing these expansions ? If you reinstall one of them as a test, then open Battery in standalone, can you find it ?

I've got Dust, Symmetry and Drift and can see all the kits in Battery (or at least a couple of dozen for each) on Mac

Hi Jeremy, am attaching a screenshot here of the Library tab in Preferences. This is what I'm experiencing. While I can see the expansion kits contained in my library, what happens is that when I move a project between computers Battery does not automatically scan those locations for the expansion kit samples when opening a project. Based on the kit names alone I don't have any way of knowing which expansion the missing kit/samples might be from. Also, in the search dialog there is no "search folder" or "search filesystem" option; only a "point to folder" or "point to files" option.

To answer you earlier question, I moved my Komplete 9 library just before installing Komplete 13. The new expansions were installed to the new location.

Am currently in touch with Franky at NI support over this by the way. Just sent him a reply on this. Sharing here for the benefit of the community.

Hi, I am having a similar issue. Just upgraded to K13U. I cleaned up my samples library drive and moved and renamed several directories in the process. FWIW, my DAW is Bitwig 4.0.1. All NI synths are locating files and loading just fine. All is good in Native Access. If I load Battery 4 in a new project, and then re-open later, it's fine.

My issue is with older projects that pointed to the previously named Battery 4 samples location. If I resolve manually, everything works fine, in THAT instance of the project. But when I save the project and then re-open again later, I have to resolve the missing samples AGAIN. I initially contacted Bitwig as I thought this might be their issue. They are saying this is an NI issue. (I hope this doesn't create finger pointing! :)) Here is what Bitwig said: "unfortunately we can't answer this as this all happens in the code of the plugin itself, Bitwig Studio does not know anything about what kind of files a plugin is making use of or not."

Am I doing something wrong or is this a Battery 4 issue?

    Thank you, Todd

Once you locate the samples, you have to save the kit... sample location is stored in the battery file not the DAW Project!
