    battery request

for me global mod settings is a must. being a drummer I need vel > atk env and vel > pitch. it's good that vel > vol is there by default. last time I put together a kit I lost all patience tweeking each cell.
Marius says after mac/ kontakt is done we'll see a trickle down for the battery update.

    Re: battery request

    Pardon?
Why don't you just select multiple cells then?
One of the great advances of Battery, having an option to edit multiple cells at once...

    New Ideas For Battery

Battery sounds brilliant! A great deal of studio work is centered around it, and it proves very intiutive and WELL SOUNDING every single time. As I do most of my work in ProTools LE 5.1 I tend find the stand alone arrangement a bit annoying and messy. Perhaps an separate RTAS plug in-release would be in place? This would enable ProToolers the same ease of work as VSTi users have had since its release.

    ok, forget the global mods

    oops,
thank you Sascha for being a gentleman about it. I had just made a kit w/ absynth perc snds and w/ a recent purchase of a sub woofer for this purpose of revealing the hidden subs on synth tones I was missing a way to get the lows under control, short of resampling. went to the SR202 for it's excellent filters but it kept crashing. oh well. no way is all this some pathetic excuse for my blunder. I had a good childhood, really.

--Yes, please display whatever kit you have loaded, up at the top somewhere!!!

--Drag and drop of complete cells, or layers from cells between instances of battery. THIS WOULD SAVE HOURS OF TIME BUILDING NEW KITS

--Yes, please allow saving of presets from cells to apply to new cells

--Yes, Kontakt style of sample browsing.

--Yes, please allow Battery interface display options, or interface customization of size

Other than that, Battery is great...!

    more feature requests

I'd like to be able to set the MIDI high and low velocity of layers by playing a MIDI note from my controller. My A3000 allows me to do this.

Also more control of looping. Forward, reverse, forward-reverse, reverse-forward. Kind of like Phamatik Pro. Maybe if there was a way to edit the actual loop points in the sample? This is besides the loop-fx which is still quite effective.

Actually, having those diffeerent loop modes in the loop fx section might be more useful and integrated.

    Support for more file formats

I recently used battery on my laptop as a playback device for a theatre show, triggered via MIDI from show control software. There were a lot of sound fx and I had to create two seperate kits for each act because they wouldn't all fit into the 256MB ram. It would have been great if I could have loaded MP3 versions of the sounds to save memory. (Hard disk streaming would have solved this problem too).

Sound quality issues aside, (and CPU overhead....) this would also decrease loading times of kits, useful if you use Battery for live performance - you don't want to keep an audience waiting!

Now that the pro-53 is released, that kontakt1.1 is out and that reaktor3.3 is almost out, MAYBE we can now hope for a battery update...

a delay time on both envelopes - amplitude and pitch bend (the pitch bend would be better like this for bass samples. also perhaps an envelope which will control loop start/ length. The option to insert "psuedo silence" onto the end of each sample (i.e. so you can set loop lengths which are longer than the sample itself. Perhaps also a random square modulator - so that you can set a modulation amount which will hit a set point in a random rhythm (i.e. its either on 0, or the amount you set, or perhaps even that same value in the negative).

    Essential Feature List.

1.The ability to drag cells from one vst instance of battery to another.
    2.Improved loading/saving of kits(not having to rename).
3.The NAME of the kit at the top of the screen.
4.A much easier way of changing values using the mouse- much better detailed fine-tuning of parameters.
5.Midi learn function (similar to reaktor).
    6.LFO' s.
    7.Sample browser.

    Envelope shape

Maybe the ability to change the shape of the amplitude decay envelope. Battery is good to quite useful in making drums out of noise. This feature is really nice on the Waldorf Attack.

I'd like to see multiple outs work in logic, it works in kontakt already so maybe the next update should have this. I can always use kontakt but I like battery for drums since it's quicker to work with and swap samples on the fly. I use kontakt mainly for those more complex sample programs that need the extra features it provides.

    1 feature request:

Full DXi 2.0 support with multiple outs so I can send individual drums to different audio processing channels (compression, EQ, etc.)

ok ALOT of good suggestions have come up, for me personally 2 things are of Prime Importance.

1)Filters for individual Cells(doesnt have to be VERY extensive),this will make my over all work much easier

2)A drum machine type sequencer(THIS wuld KICK ASS big time)

A couple of minor things like Resizeable windows and Exportable DRUM MAPS for SX,this will particularly be useful.

Now IF only NI read this thread and get started on those Filters we need :D

After having worked with Battery for quite some time I must say that the most combersome thing (actually it's more like a royal PITA) is the fact that you can't save individual cells properly (ok, you can save as a set and then use "add cells", but whatta workaround...).
Especially when importing AKAI CDs you will often find yourself with patches only consisting of snares, kicks, whatever. Now try to transfer one of those cells into the kit of your choice...

This is one thing where fxpansion's DR-008 is WAY WAY superior as you have presets for all sorts of modules plus you can drag and drop between multiple opened instances now.

The next thing I really don't like is editing velocity layers. Having to switch between them each and every time without having the slightest chance of a velozone overview is getting really time consuming, to say the least.
Again, while there have been no improvements in Battery, the DR-008 1.1 has a vastly improved velocity sampler, introducing instant visual control on all velocity layers.

In the end, at first I thought that Battery would be a great tool for all sorts of realistic drumsets - but now that Emagic's EXS has individual outs I prefer using that one for realistic sounds. For all sorts of electronic stuff I'm using the DR-008 anyways.
The only thing I still use Battery for is when dragging drumloops from pHATmatik Pro (because you can alter multiple cells simultaneosly).

IMO it's no question, Battery needs quite some improvements to keep up with the competition.

    Cheers,
    Sascha
(no offense meant, btw, but it's a long time since something happened to Battery...)

I think Battery is giving up. The DR-008 is far superior to Battery right now.

That said, Battery kits can be used with Kontakt, which in turn plays multiple midi channels independently, which neither VSampler or the DR-008 can do at present.

    1. Battery should give us at least up to C7. My PA-80 goes up to C7, for chrissakes.. sheesh!

    2. You should be able to drag/drop samples to pads from explorrer. The present "Replace Sample" window is WAY to small for my sample collections. And why should I have to use Battery's browser anyway.
sheesh... where are you guys, back in the '50's?

    3. Also you should be able so set global midi channels. And while we're at it, why not ctrl-a to select all pads. sheesh!

C'mon, you guys, these are BASIC, BASIC Windows functions......

    This is MUCH frustration.

Erm - I must strongly agree on that one. The sample replacement dialog box (also the "open" kit one) is not even resizeable - this is a most basic Windows feature and only very few oldfashioned Win3.x-ish programs don't offer that! I even installed 98SE/plain rather than 98lite because of that a while ago!
Let alone the fact that in order to have "in kit preview" you need to activate that option every time again - sigh...

And yes, drag and drop from explorer would be very nice.
But why limit it to samples only? One should be able to a) save cell presets and drag'n'drop them as well. Or complete kits.
And of course one should be able to drag cells between multiple instances of Battery (as said before, a killer feature of the DR-008).

I allready stated that, Battery was truly great when it came out, but it's really falling behind now, especially in terms of handling comfort.

    Regards,
    Sascha

Most of the suggestions I think would be amazing if they could be implemented. The features id kill for:

    1. step sequencer
    2. able to add reverb/delay to each sample.
    3. filters for each cell
