The documentation & drum kits that come with Battery 3 seem to focus on creating realistic drum sounds & its usefulness for electronic music sometimes gets overlooked.

I use Battery to slice drum breaks into individual beats, which I use to program completely different rhythms. The cell matrix, filters & modulation router make it a very powerful tool but there are a couple of features that for me would make the package complete:

    1) Loopback - by this I mean a sample loop that plays forwards-backwards-forwards-backwards etc., this can create much smoother loops, particularly with transient audio. For beat-slicing this would really help where the slice is too short but time stretching degrades the quality too much, & it would have plenty of other creative uses.

    2) Export a cell as a sample - Sometimes I want to create a new sample from a cell, which may mix multiple samples & have filters, effects or modulation applied. This may be to save CPU or free up filters etc. for further processing. At the moment I have to use the host sequencer to do this but if Battery could export a cell as a new sample it would make things much quicker.

Thank you for reading & I hope you find these suggestions helpful.

    good suggestions.

fwiw, you could put a reversed version of the sample on a separate pad and play the 2 versions of the sample.

excuse my slight OT, but how do you slice in battery? (except for rex-files)

Battery doesn't detect transients & slice for you but it's easy enough to manually adjust start & end points to isolate an individual beat.

This might seem a bit archaic but Battery has other features that I haven't seen in a dedicated beat slicer & for me it's worth the effort.
