Ok I am running a mac os 9.2 with reaktor, and battery. My midi input device is a midiman 2x2. I use an MPC 2000 to trigger both programs. How do you set a midi input channel for battery so that it recieves only the midi that it should. In windows setup there is a selection, but it does not mention the same for mac setup. My problem is that midi intended for reaktor triggers battery as well. It seems that the battery mac midi setup page is very limited. Is there an update? Am I missing something?

    Thanks for your help.

    Hi Baron,

on the Mac or pc the way Battery handles what midi channel it receives is based on each cells "cell" perimeter window. You will find a perimeter called midi in the "cell perimeter window and next to it you more then likely will see ALL as the value. Just change this to whatever midi channel you want the cell to respond to.

Outside of that- make sure that OMS is setup properly with the mpc being setup to send/receive on all midi channels.

    hope this helps

Thanks for the help. But I have to set each cell on each kit to the correct
midi channel? There is no master midi selector for the kit? That is what I
    am looking for.

But thanks for the reply, the NI support has impressed me.

    No master midi channel selector?

That is kind of like having to independently select the midi channel for every key on my keyboard. Is there no easier way to set all cells to the same midi channel?

    But thanks for the reply

just highlight all/ selected cells and change their midi channels all at once. should take all of half a second like that.

Although a half a second (500 milliseconds) would be ideal for an action like this, the current record set for changing the midi channel of all cells in battery is held by our in house pet fish (angus): he had an unprecedented speed of-> 992ms

**Other standings here at the US Native Instruments office
    Chris Borgia: 1111ms
    Omar Torres: 1823ms
    Gregory Butler: 3474ms

    ;)

Yeah it is easy to do, but it is unstated in the manual.

i prefer to change midi channels based on note value, not time value..

but this leads to a question i've had about all NI products and how it will relate to kontakt.

in battery and the B4, if i set the midi settings such that it has no midi input, then in motu's DP, i can create a track for (let's say battery) and record-enable it and it plays thru battery. then if i move down to another synth, i can record on that track. but, if i want to go to battery and edit a sound while tapping a key, i can't! i have to go to midi settings, setup my controller in battery, and then i can play a note while tweaking.

then the problem arises when i go back to DP.. i record-enable my battery track to lay a drum, and i hear two notes (one DP makes and the other from battery in the background). so i record my drum anyway, then move to a synth to lay piano. now i'm hearing piano and drums (piano via DP's record-enabled track and battery via the background because my controller is still set as an input in it's midi prefs).

sorry if this is confusing.. but what i fear is that kontakt, like battery and the B4 will be the same. i have never been able to get around this. but i don't want to have to change my midi prefs in kontakt everytime i go back to the interface to tweak a sound. it's not the end of the world for battery or the b4, cause they are just one instrument, but hopefully i'll be running 12-16 in kontakt and that could be a huge pain, hearing doubles of everything and changing settings all the time.

does anyone know the magic combo of setting between these programs? or is that just the way it is?

    thanks

    andy
