Firstly (as this is my first post) I’d just like to say having browsed through the forum it really is refreshing to see all comments display such a strong knowledge of Native Instruments software and other hardware products and feel that this forum really has got to be the best in terms of support. My computer knowledge isn’t the greatest however, so please bear with me.

Okay, now to my problem (well, one of them).

I have just purchased the Behringer BCD-3000 controller which came bundled with Traktor 3 LE. I appreciate that the BCD-3000 is a fairly new product and not one which you might not be too familiar with at this stage, but I’m sure that certain known problems with this will have been identified in the previous BCD-2000.

In a nutshell I’m having trouble getting the headphones to work through the controller. My computer has a Phillips PSC724 surround sound card with 5.1 speaker setup.

If I adjust the setting in Traktor to use one of the two internal BCD sound cards, I get use of the headphones however only sound through two of the speakers (no bass or surround).

On the other hand, if I select the Phillips sound card I get good quality sound, but headphones will not work. And using the headphone CUE device plays what you would expect though the headphone but through the 2 x rear surround speakers. Strange?

Now, I’ve also tried connecting the master output to the line-in of the sound card with audio cables but once again I only get sound from two of the Phillips speaker with no bass or surround.

The Behringer sound setup and also Windows Sound Setup options don’t seem to accomplish anything either.

The other problem I have which is quite similar, (and probably linked to the same thing I guess) is that if I connect a turntable via the input section, I cannot hear anything from this device. Even after adjusting the BCD-3000 control to pick up the other channel.

Any ideas would be much appreciated

    Brad

I have exactly the same problem.
It seems i can either have music coming out of my subwoofer and speakers OR my headphones... its quite confusing and frustrating.

well i'm glad it's not just me.

I was browsing another forum earlier and read a comment that even though the Bcd and Numark Total Control have the headphone jack and controls on the console, they wont work unless you are running the built in sound card.
It was mentioned that you should use the headphone/line out jack of you sound card instead which will make the headphones AND controls work as if they were plugged directly into the console.

I will try that later and let you know but my sound card doesn't have a line out nor a headphone jack. Perhaps i can re-assign the line-in or mic-in port?

I do have a SPDIF? port, so if i get an RCA connector perhaps that will work...

I too bought this item(which on the surface looks like a pretty good wee tool for the price)and have had major problems with it.

I already had Traktor DJ Studio 3 which a friend of mine gave to me as he no longer had any use for it(he moved onto Ableton Live instead).

The controller wouldn't work with my pre existing Traktor installation.....so I tried the LE version which frankly,is very low on content.

So despite the fact I have a fully functioning legal installation of Traktor 3,I still have to pay to upgrade from LE for it to work with the BCD3000?

Bit of a rip off surely.

My second problem is this, the sound on my laptop is choppy, muffled etc etc.....P4 2.8ghz/512mb RAM so I am well over the requirements for this piece of kit.

The application itself is also very selective about working, sometimes it loads up and works sometimes it doesnt, sometimes the settings load up correctly, other times I have to go into preferences and fix everything manually everytime.

I also have no idea how to get it working with my M-Audio Audiophile Firewire.

Now I only got this yesterday, but if I cannot get it to work properly by Monday I am afraid I will have to get a refund.

The biggest problem is it not working with my pre existing Traktor 3 installation.

I don't profess to know much about this aspect of DJing....in fact I am a novice,so if anyone can help me out, with a guide...or if there is any thrid party softward out there to make my lif a bit easier, then I would me most grateful.

    Thanks.

Oh and I also can't hear channel 2 through my headphones....I can only hear the channel playing and only when I turn the "phones mix" knob.

In theory, it should be sufficient to load the MIDI TKS file from LE in T3. Read the manual section about MIDI, it should tell you in more detail how to go about it.

Sorry if I seem stooopid(as I mentioned previously I am a novice at laptop djing etc)but would you be so kind as to give me a few pointers as to how I would do this?

    Many thanks.

To read the manual? Opening it and looking in the index for MIDI might be a good start. 0:)

Getting this to work with Traktor 3 shouldn't be an issue. In a nutshell, under the preferences menu there is an option for midi setup where you can load a pre-existing setup so that your BCD will work perfectly with Traktor 3.

I too have the Traktor 3 Le version but will be purchasing the full Traktor 3 tomorrow, just to make sure it would work first i downloaded the trial version of Traktor 3 and in the setup mentioned above, i loaded up the Traktor 3 LE .tks setup which automatically configured the controls from the LE version, to the full version.

Like you say, there are a few problems with it. Mine has a habit of shutting the computer off on occasion after opening Traktor and as soon as i use the BCD control.

    TKS LE in T3

I tried loading the LE TSK in T3, it works but doesn't cover all functions.
E.g. the kill buttons and the MID of the equalizer don't work, the leds don't light up. :|

I have problems like.....when I turn the eqs the knobs turn on the screen, but there is no change to the sound.

Bascially I cannot get my soundcard(M-Audio Audiophile Firewire)to work with the mixer/controller.....sound will only play when I change to the BCD in sound preferences.

I don't currently have it hooked up with a midi cable...just phono to phono/usb to laptop.

Does anyone have it fully functioning yet?,if so would they be so kind as to run through a step by step guide for a midi/laptop novice such as myself?

Been using Technics for years and thought I fancied a controller more to mess around on more than anything and frankly setting it up to work properly has been a total nightmare.

    Regards.

Regarding getting the headphones section to work i've cracked it (sort of)..

You need to select the BCD3000 sound card in preferences (of Traktor) firstly, this is the only way that the headphone section of the controller will work is by utilising the BCD's internal sound card.
Secondly, connect an RCA to 3.5mm adapter from the master output of the BCD-3000 to the line-in of your sound card.
Thirdly, keep your windows sound setup configured to your chosen sound card (ie in my case, Phillips PSC724 surround), and adjust the windows sound volume levels of the line-in to your desired volume.
And voila, simple as. The sound on my computer plays through the 5.1 surround setup and the headphones section works (with a bit of playing around with the channel setup in the preferences section of Traktor). In preferences you will need to select 1 channel to the monitor section and 1 channel to master. This does mean that only one of the headphone earpieces will work to the headphone section of the BCD-3000.

This does however come with some sacrifices, as you'd expect...
firstly is the fact that only earpeice of the headphones will function properly
secondly, by connecting through the line-in, there appears to be a long delay between what you can hear through the speakers to what you can hear through the headphones. Okay, so it works for cueing tracks up but beat matching is impossible to achieve via this method if that how you choose to beatmatch via headphone.
Lastly, by forcing the sound through one little 3.5mm plug, some of the sound quality and certainly all of the surround sound is lost. On my computer/sound card set up, it would seem as if the overall sound is being equally distributed between each of the 5.1 speakers.

All in all, i think the unit is pretty impressive, and especially for the cost. Without the Traktor software it really wouldn't be worth the money.

I think i'll keep my sound quality at top level and leave the headphone section to assign to different on-screen commands.

By the way, forgive me for rambling on (quiet moment at work) but has anyone noticed that the master volume button doesn't appear to do anything? I re-assigned this command to the headphone mix button and it appears to work with that instead.
