Took me a few weeks on and off to knock this up in MS Visual C# Express. Works a treat :D

heh, it's so buggy, if you drag the handles/markers off the side of the screen you can never get hold of them without restarting, for example.

If I can find somewhere to host it (probably mega upload or somesuch) i'll put up a link in a day or so after I've fiddled a bit more :)

Here it is, for those who dare download buggy EXEs off the internet and run them on their own computers. USE ENTIRELY AT YOUR OWN RISK!

Includes a vague attempt at a user guide in HTML format too :)

updated version: 1.2.1.17 (same download link as above)

    - BPM accuracy increased to 3 decimal places
    - Bar marker number controls reworked to include first/last button
    - Zooming in/out close to the start/end of the waveform works better
    - Now able to select the first/last marker using the number-control if it's very close to the start/end of the waveform

What you are experiencing when ripping your vinyl is the wow and flutter of the the turntable. All turntables have this no matter if they are 1210s or whatever.

Traktor only detects one average BPM per track so if the track has a fluctuating bpm the grid own align.

    Thats a handy little application.
    Mac version..?

BTW- by the way you say the "bar" id say you from up North. care to say where. Wrong side of the hills is my guess ;-)

Yeah a Mac version would make sense but i'd need to port it from c# to c++ first. It should run under Mono tho but haven't tried it.

Agree some of it will be the decks, but you should see how wild some of my recordings go, one just goes nuts as it reaches the lead out!

As for the accent, east of the pennines, the correct side yes. :D

That's pretty cool and possibly less clunky than warping in Ableton Live (and definitely less expensive).
I'm curious about the resampling quality though?
I always use the "re-pitch" mode in Live because it just changes the speed without pulling fancy tricks like key-locking and whatever the other things do.

Yeah it's a simple resampling algorythm, and doesn't try and pull any fancy pitch tricks.

    Decibel Kid:

I've been playing with your program for the past week or so. Works great except I've noticed it tends to clip off the end of the song file. Do you have a silence removal bit in there? Or is it just a minor bug?

Otherwise, I'd love to see where you take this project in the future!

Funnily enough I ran in to this myself for the first time last night. I think it happens when the last marker is NOT set to Skip, I've done 48 tracks with it so far and only noticed it on one (after converting it to MP3 and then setting up the grid in Traktor!)

will take a look at the code tonight

Fixed : end of output wav being truncated when markers were set to be Skipped

    V 1.2.2.8 : http://thedecibelkid.com/software/

    :)

Also, met up and chatted with a friend who knows a thing or two about Mac coding. So a Win32/Cocoa crossport will be in the works very very soon

Also, also: Took only about an hour or two to grid-up all 48 of my own beatlokkered tracks (entire reason I wrote it!). Traktor guessed the BPM perfectly for most of them and all I had to do was set the start marker. A handful it got it wrong but multiplying the BPM it'd guessed by 1.333333 in a calculator proved to be the correct value. The only reason I put the "lokked" BPM in the output filename was to ease manually entering it into Traktor but that turned out not to be needed (will probably make it optional in the future).
