competitor as in functionality, definately not price.

Hopefully though, I'll be able to use the BCD2000 as a sequencing editing tool as well as djing tool... when it arrives

This is like saying that Folger's is a competitor with Jamaican High Mountain because they're caffeine-delivery systems. While I'm the first to say that $2500 (you're right, Phil) is damned steep for a piece of kit, it's one helluva quality piece of kit.

I agree with what you're saying, but one word of caution to anyone who is actually thinking about buying a 3D. Less than a year ago, I bought two XONE:02 mixers, one of them was in the shop for a bad crossfader. I got it back and used it for a couple of months. Now BOTH of my XONEs are in repair. These things are supposed to be top of the line and between TWO separate units, they can't even make it a year without breaking down. So, would I invest $2500 in another Allen & Heath product? The short answer is a resounding NO.

Also worth asking is for $2500.00... "What is it that you can do on the 3D that you cannot do on a BCD2000, and are those things worth $2200-$2300 to you?" Since none of us have either piece of hardware, its hard to answer. Based on what we know today my answer would be no... But your answer might be different.

    I Have A Bcd2000 In My Hands!

Hello all, i think i can shed some new light on everything...at least from my experience.

I spoke to Behringer at the musikmesse in Frankfurt on Friday. The Behringer man, said he was sorry but he was not allowed to tell me why the delay had occured.
He showed me a working unit, and also informed me that the price had jumped to €208.

However he did promise that the unit would be shipping within the next few weeks.

Now here is the strange part. I got back to Munich on sunday to find a box waiting for me. I opened it to find a BCD2000 inside. (i was also only billed €159 for it)

I have no idea how it is happened, but i have on in my hands and it appears to function perfectly and wonderfully. Although i am yet to assign all the midi functions and get it running in Traktor, it works beautifully with the Behringer software.

I will let you all know more as i begin to play with it.

ok ...now i'm all confused..... I had just settled on getting the ecler nuo 4 - as it seems to be the quality thing at the moment. But now, this behringer thing seems like the go - and sooo much cheaper!........ All I wanna do is play traktor with something that sounds/looks like its meant to be there (i.e i'm using the hercues console at the moment!)

After playing with EVERYTHING at the musikmesse, (i checked out the bcd2000, the codanova, the mawzer, the kontrol:dj, the ecler nuo-4 & nuo-5's and even the xone:3d), i can honestly say this....

I am be no means a professional dj, in which case the BCD is the absolute perfect product in terms of what it can do and its low price...vs things like the codanova, mawzer, kontrol dj.

The Ecler's are a beautiful mixer in my opinion, without considering the customisable midi stuff. With that, they are really incredible.

I've been scouring around for a cheap nuo-4 or nuo-5, ever since i first played with one. But of course you are still looking at at least €700 minimum for a second hand one. I ordered my BCD back in may last year, and totally forgot that i had ordered until it arrived yesterday. In that time since june, i settled on getting a nuo, but i'm more than happy to have the BCD as well.

It comes down a question of cost.

    low end: Behringer bcd2000
mid range: Ecler nuo4 or 5 (there are some other options)
    high end: Xone:3d

Right then!! I want my BCD2000!!! Itching to get on and start mixing immediately, so I can risnse out all the jump-up chav junglists here in the UK, and blat them with some killer DnB from the past 13 years with Traktor too!!! Dagnam it!! I hope that the BCD2000 is the new messiah... will it rise by Easter Sunday?

Arkdog... where DID you get your one from? My BCF and BCR are looking like they miss their triplet counterpart (the BCA2000 got 'rejected' after 'adopting' two of them, but they played up and had to go back to the institute)

...also.... will Behringer (once they release the unit) enlighten us all into what the holdup was?

one more edit..... www.decks.co.uk seem to appear to believe that the date may be 14th April? http://www.decks.co.uk/products/mp3players/behringer/bcd2000

I would give my right nut to get one..... (well OK, maybe not my right nut... perhaps someone elses...) to spin on by April 14 got a few days off and mix fest will feature, but I don't know if it will be happening.

Just a heads up tho guys and I am totally speculating here, The U.S. shipments maybe delayed while the FCC stuff gets worked out but UK, Europe, Venus, Jupiter and hell may all get theirs shortly. Be happy if you do live in the U.S. and they do ship but don't be too surprised if they do not.

ArkDog, it goes without saying we want photos ;) We want to be able to drool over visions of the total Traktor goodiness too! I like my pics HiDef Full Screen 32bit color, but 240X160 grainy black and white off an old busted up webcam or camera phone would be good as well. ;-)

Finally someone has one of these! i look forward to your opinion on it arkdog.

I'm looking for something to replace/use with my x-session. The 2 products that fall within my price range are this BCD2000 and what I see as its maincompetitor, the slightly more expensive Bitstream.

    http://www.waveidea.com/en/products/bitstream_3x/#

My question is what is it about the BCD2000 that makes it better or more desirable than the Bitstream for traktor? The Bitstream seams to have everything and its interface is not limited to the '2 deck' metaphor.

Rocdollar - think it is down to the 2 deck thing - everything layed out exactly alike mixing decks, with additional controls an dthe crossfader right in the middle, where it lives. The Bitstream to me looks, well, Ableton-ish. I've also got the BCR2000 and the BCF2000 and have absolutely no quarms or issues with them at all, work perfectly for my needs, will be using either with the BCD2000 once it comes out, so I'll have bare nuff control. Looking forward to actually owning one now - glad i've ewaited so far, have been searching for alternatives, but nothing really compares. Even after getting touchy-feely with a BCD2000 at the SoundExpo last month, the controls all feel great, nice pitch control like a deck should be (not exactly Technic 1210 pitch-control, but not a loose MIDI fader that flies all over the place). Goonna have to get used to being left handed with the pitch control (the whole console is mirrored), but hey, if I'm up for sitting thru 80hours of Dnb sampling, I'm definately up for smashing up the sound systems with me lappy and Traktor as soon as I can!!

OK here is the OF-FISHY-IAL WORD!
The Behringer is allegedly shipping in the U.S. now. ProSound and Lighting in Cypress California says they have them and are shipping. I ordered one and it will be here tomorow. I've not bought gear from them before, a friend has and recommends them. They are according to him, up front and reliable.

If you cannot wait to get one then their Web Site is...
    http://www.pssl.com/bitemdetail.tpl...0409412113~newproduct~T~itemNumber~BCD2000 01

If it arrives in time and I get it working well enough, I'll get some samples, an initial review and a minimix into this weekends Podcast. I'll post Pics to the blog the instant I have them.

On the other side of the Tracks little bird who must remain nameless has said that according to official Behringer speak the BCD2000 is almost available, but not yet, so my order placement might be for the vaporware edition of the controller. We shall see, I have NO reason to doubt that PSSL have the product, to be honest but we shall see. The wait might be over! ;)

Phil, I've ordered from PSSL on numerous occasions and I can say that while the reps do seem to be helpful and knowledgeable, it sometimes seems like they're relying on inaccurate information. In fact, if I remember correctly, I think the last time I ordered a Behringer product from them it was drop shipped despite them saying that they had it "in stock". Of course, I hope they DO have it in stock, but I guess you'll find out soon enough...

OK some further background for you...
DJ shaggy from down in Medford Or sent me an Email last night that he saw the BCD2000 available on Ebay. The Seller said it was a drop ship item available within 7 days I think.
    http://cgi.ebay.com/Behringer-BCD20...oryZ4785QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

To force the issue of whether its a drop ship AND available now I asked for overnight shipping. Yes it's expensive but the intent is to prove availability, If this thing takes 5 days to arrive I can refuse to accept it when delivered or dispute the charges and get it down to ground shipping. I've got a buck that says it won't be here tomorrow, but I will be happy to buy the Mar of a Margherita with the buck if it does. We'll know tomorrow. ;)
