I apologize if this has already been brought up but when scrolling through the pages I couldn't find it.

Behringer is about to release a combined mixer and midi-controller. It has four channels , FX , and will retail at around 320€ (roughly 400$) ! Check it out for yourselfs:

    http://www.behringer.com/DDM4000/index.cfm?lang=eng

I also found this movie demonstrating it:

    http://www.sonicstate.com/news/shownews.cfm?newsid=4519

Although the guy describing the machine seems to be a bit hungover he gives a good rundown of its features. He mentions that the midi-compability is NOT YET complete but will be downloadable as soon as they are done with it.

EDIT: He says it will be released this summer, but on behringers homepage the chart says something else. Check it out in the top left corner on the link I supplied above.

To me as a bedroom DJ spinning both CDJ's and Traktor, this seems like the perfect solution.
    What do you think?

I think Behringer's components, build quality, and audio are crap. I ain't alone by a long shot.

:D We had a nice long thread on the Global Underground board a little while ago slagging the thing for being the most hideously designed mixer in known history. The thing is waaaaay too clunky, cluttered and cramped from the pictures I've seen.

I would second that! Anyone I knew, says the same and they are all owners of Behringer gear, myself included, there great if your low on bucks and want to fill a rack.

Behringer captures ya because off its Affordability.

You save bucks, Though compromise Quality.

Well I think they do just fine for the money they cost. Remember, a decent costs at minimum double the price.

...Which validates Steve, Scrambled Eggs and Stabys comments. FWIW their Midi only controllers (BCR and BCF 2000) are good. The rest though... not so much. They sell a ton of gear, which proves the point that many people buy on price alone till they find out what that means to the sound and gear quality.

The word I'm hearing about the mixer is that they are planning on releasing it without complete Midi capabilities and will provide that as an update later. Dunno about you but I saw Behringer promise an update to the BCD2000 to get the jog wheels to work without having to roll your own software layer and I'm yet to see that. The software support for the BCD sucked donkeys bollocks as it did for the BCR, luckily in the case of the BCR the hardware worked well and there was very limited need to use the software, what it could not do, MIDIOX could. All this should tell you to tread with care! There is plenty of evidence to suggest that you should be extremely wary of this thing.

if they manage to pull off the compatablilty with traktor, then i might get one of these.
has everything you could want in a mixer, and allow 1-2 channels to be set up for use in traktor, whilst being reasonably priced.

If you plan on playing out using Behringer audio, I recommend A/B testing the unit against another mixer at decent volume, if at all possible. Doing that was exactly what caused me to unhook my old Behringer desktop mixer and never use it again.

Yeah you made several really good points. Think I'll forget about the combo-idea and go for a GOOD regular mixer and place my Feena FMDJ aside of it.
