People tend to forget that "turnover" on tech items is down to about 3 or 4 months before it's obsolete. Macs are built to buck that trend, that's why they cost more. You may save money in the begining, but in the long run you'll probably buy 4 or 5 pc's before your mac is even close to obsolescence. If you have decent credit you can purchase a mac rather easily with low payments. And if you gig professionally and have your proper paperwork you can do a business lease and flip your Mac everytime there is the slightest upgrade (AND right it off on your taxes at years' end). Just something to think about.

P.S. Running TSP 1.2.6 on a Compaq C60 4g ram AMD athlon X2 at 5.5ms latency on Vista with no probs. LUSTING for MBP 17 inch i7 8g ddr3 1tb hd.

P.P.S. When Macs get Blu-ray all pc's will be obsolete.

    3,5 years ago I bought a MBP 2,33 GHz Core 2 Duo, 2 GB Ram, 160 GB HD = 2099 EUR

I sold it last month for 900 EUR.

I'm curious what PC can give you that return after 3,5 years.

It is always the Mac fanboys who get wound up, isn't it?

    :D

Maybe you don't understand computers but the components of my machine are an exact match for a 2.6ghz MBP, right the way down to the wireless card. I did a birthday party last weekend as a stress test, the machine was being used for 24+ hours (obviously not by me right the way through :D ) on one of the hottest weekends of the year without a single hiccup, even streaming music off the wireless didn't give me any issues.

    Sorry mate.

    :(

I am not wound up and I do know a lot about computers. I'm just saying Hackintosh is not the best option out there. Trust me, you will get issues eventually. Especially with newer updates etc. But if it works well for you, that's good!

So basicly you copied a mac, and use the excact components and OS.

And you are boasting about that performance...

    YOU ARE A MACFANBOY.

I didn't copy anything. I just bought a laptop with a common list of components, it's like you think there's magic pixie dust inside Macs.

    :D

Have to say you do all sound a bit woundup. I've said that I like Macs, why would you all be willing someone to fail unless they were winding you up? Sanderr, you say that I will get issues eventually, I guess you must be some sort of expert who's done all this before, yeah? Perhaps you can explain the reasons it'll fail. Who am I kidding? You haven't got a clue.

    :|

Tell you what, once my laptop fails in front of an audience, I'll come back here and tell you all that you were right. I suspect you're all going to be waiting a long time.

    Take care fellas.

I did run a Hackintosh before and after losing all of your files because of an update I think there is something to say about the fact it's not reliable. That goes together with the tons of driver issues there were all the time. But as I said before, if it works well for you, I hope it continues to do.

Dude, I'm not wound up, but your presumtions are interesting.

You state you wind up macfanboys with your hackintosh -> I note you use the same OS.
You state your hackintosh is stable -> I note you are basicly running a mac.

Why am I calling you a macfanboy?
You are running a system that Apple devised: hardware and software.
And you did so after driver related problems on a pc.
Sounds like a classic case of Mac-conversion to me.

BTW, ususally PC chaps are nasty to mac users: hype/ ripped off/ status and all that.
All Mac fans are usually saying is that OS X run better, as you will agree.

I'm happy you have a system that works, and I am by no means upset/ offended.
All I have said in this thread, that I'm willing to pay more for something that works.

def a MACbook Pro. try getting a clean second hand if the $ is the issue. You can still get a smooth MAC and warranty from apple for extra bucks. Thats what I did..

I would look at craigslist and buy a used Mac. If you are going to be playing at Clubs and Venues, Mac is reliable.

You're right, you don't sound like you're wound up at all.

    :D

Way to behave like stereotypical Mac fanboys though (apart from Sanderrs comment that he hopes it continues to work). Just took a deep breath and updated the machine. It all worked perfectly. Just got back from gigging last night, again, it all worked perfectly.

I'll continue to let you know how it all goes.

    Cheers all.

If you read my posts again, you will see I have not attacked you, nor endorsed Apple blindly.

All I did was react to your statement that you wind up macfanboys with your hackintosh setup.
I pointed out that that might not be the case, since you are basicly running a Mac setup anyway.

So, 96k, I am not wound up, as I keep repeating - patiently.
But perhaps you are, since you see hostility where there is none.

@ Danny, Im trying to convince 96K that there is no hostility here,
and you try to close this discussion by calling us girls.

    Subtle, I think not.
