I need an advice on this, which is the best ensemble when it comes to using a sampler as a synth? As in, looping very short segments of waveforms and then further manipulating them.

I need something that can loop seamlessly, forward/backward, and also has some nice filters/fx, maybe something grain based?

All suggestions are welcome, thanks :)

Yes you are right... I should rephrase it. I am looking for something similar to Splitter, in terms of how it processes the source sample, but with more control over different parameters.

What works for you? I even think i wouldnt need filters i a sampler like this, just enough control over modulating grain-related parameters and looping modes...

    thanks

but Splitter works with loops... i get the feeling you just want to cycle through shorter one shot samples. am i right or am i wrong?

you could have a look at James Walker-Hall's Sampler Pack in the User Library.

You might be looking for Loupe. It has the features you mention.

yes sowari, i need to be able to loop the hell out of oneshots... you get the idea anyway.

both yours and ~Pd~'s suggestions look very nice! i will look into them in detail and will post some feedback, thanks guys.

~Pd~, i looked at your pack, it seems really nice! Too bad that i dont have the money to buy it right now, i would put that tools to good usage.

James Walker-Hall's Sampler Pack is the s**t! i really really love it, especially the Granulizer and the Resynth. I'm having some issues with them though, or maybe its just something that i'm missing. Assigning either which one of the envelopes to Pitch does not seem to work! Any ideas why so?

Also, i noticed that all of the four samplers in the pack do not have a sharp transient at the beginning of the sample playback - it always comes out muffled. Could this be that the envelopes used do not have fast enough attack times, or is it just the way the graincloud and resynth modules act? But on the other hand Kompressor - which utilizes these too, does have the needed attack... so i'm kinda puzzled.

If someone knows, please explain, and sorry if my explanation appears not quite clear, but i'm in a hurry, i can explain more...

    thanks again guys

fwiw, you should start saving for Peter Dines Sample Pack because it is worth it

i agree about the sharp transients. but transients for the granular samplers are partly to do with grainsize, smooth control and grain rate. you should experiment with these controls

i tend to use the granular samplers to loop small sections of a longer sample to create textures and atmospheres, so hard transients are less of a problem for me. James Walker-Hall's samplers have a very sophisticated structure compared to Kompressor.

in terms of pitch modulation here are some screenshots of V4 - Granulator and Resynth - where it is working for me.
