I have the xone 92 and to properly use traktor scratch (includling timecode) I have three options:

    Xone 92 + 2x Xone 1D + Audio 8 (similar to Richie Hawtin's setup)

Xone 92 + Xone 1D + Xone 2D (will work fine the timecode control?)

Xone 4D (and get rid of the Xone 92)

What is the best setup in terms of sound quality and stability?

    What is the best cost/benefit?

    Cheers,

    Paolo

the 2x1D's/Audio8 and the 1D/2D combo will cost you about the same.

I am not sure that the 2D is a traktor certified mixer... and so timecode would not work through it... kinda strange that the 2D and 4D wouldnt have the same capabilities regarding timecode... maybe somebody else can weigh in on that.

I would not go with the 4D... much less adaptability and there continue to be issues with some of these units. Search the forum to find other threads where this is discussed.

Thanks Nomaad, that was my general perception. Afterall, Richie Hawtin has this setup for a reason.

eurodj101, I would appreciate if you could check if the 2d works with timecode.

    Much appreciated.:D

Neither the 2D or 1D is Traktor Scratch Certified . They wont work with timecode. You will still need the Audio8 DJ.

well, obviously the 1D isn't. its not a soundcard.

but i will PERSONALLY certify it as a badass controller for T(S)P.

I love my setup... I have a dual 1D map for 4 decks (techno/house oriented) and a 2 deck (jungle oriented) map for a single 1D and very basic 4 deck map for a single 1D... (all for use with an external mixer.) I am working on a map for a single 1D with internal mixing controls for when i roll up somewhere there isn't even a mixer.

I could get away with travelling with a single 1D, my laptop and my audio8 and get into some serious mixing.

dunno if it would work for you, but it sure as sh*t works for me.

i like my 4d but it does have some quality issues that remain outstanding, the soundcard and build quality mainly.

If you're travelling you can only take the whole thing with you, with 1d's and audio 8 you can take just what you need.
The 92 is a better mixer than the 4d, not that it's bad but the 92 adds the 4th eq, 2 LFO's, 2 aux channels. of course you need lots of cables to plug in the 1d's, soudncard to mixer etc, but it;s flexible.

I wouldn't use the 2d - not certified and limited channels, audio 8 solves both of those

Did you find this out? I want to get xone92 + 2 technics + 2d but still use time code with tractor scratch pro.

I dunno if certification is just marketing approval or whether there is prevention at a technical level and so really need someone with the kit to confirm.

    Thanks

i bought the 2d cause i was dumb and had FS2 at the time then when TSP came out and bought that honestly 2 1ds and tsp is the way to go though i do have a question how do you use 2 1ds exactly one has to change midi channel on one right cause if not youll have duplicate commands on both.

Hmmm I was really thinking that having just one 2d (if you do more than one controller with xone 92, then might as well buy 4D) this would save mean I could get the lower priced version of traktor ie without paying for audio 8.

Back to the real question did you manage to get timecode vinyl workign through 2D ?

yes you are right, they both need different midi channels.

Honestly didnt even try as someone posted taht it wouldn wo but hat the heck ill give it a go tonite anyways. As for the one problem with the 4d. Sund card divers il late vry very buggy, mixer part isnt as good as a 92 nor a 62 for that matter,a 92 and 2 1ds are cheaper just missing the sound card but it all depends for people who alreayd have TS or TSP then its a good option, but if you are going midi only then the 2d is a viable option. i have 2 cause i sometime like to play midi only but for Scratch mode 1 1d is more than enough.

Thanks for the replies. In the endI went for a Xone 92 with one 1D, but I also got a Akai APC controller. I'm in the midst of re-mapping my 1D and I can see that I can do all I need with one, so I'm glad I spent the moeny on my APC too which is a hoot. Though the best investment has been buying an IKEA expedit bookcase which has allowed me to bring back down my record collection that was gathering dust - the joys of lisening to some really great old tracks :D

    hi guys,
i gave up DJing years ago and sold all my equipment but my mixer (tascam X9, i love xone 92s, but the tascam is way too good to get rid of). i use ableton with an APC40 but want to start using traktor and was going to buy a xone 1 + 2d... but i assumed that the 2d`s timecode would work without the need for another expensive unit to be put in line which really sucks. i thought about getting a digital dj console but they seem **** & gimmicky. would be much happier playing off my laptop with two xone units.

    what is every one`s recommendation?
i want to get good stuff but don`t want too spend too much which is why i was looking at only the two xone units

    thanks
