Hello NI fam& happy new year! I'm zoomin into the future with my studio upgrade from mikro mk2 and Maschine 2 + KKs49!! So yeah,I'm pretty stoked and love the workflow between them both. But now on to bizz.
I was currently rockin the Alesis M1active which were descent but never really a sound idea for mastering. More of a computer setup for audio.

So my question, which studio monitors should I go for? Better yet which are you using? Any recommendations?
Btw I'm in an untreated room with carpeting.
All info is greatly appreciated, since I finally have a.solid workflow with reliable hardware and software I just want to get appropriate monitors that will allow me to fully utilize my work station. I have heard great things about Event 20/20 Bas and also Adam,Tannoy 6.5, and of course Krk. Let's get this discussion going peeps, peace y'all

I love my krk vxt 6 but for producing only i would go for something more neutral..there a bit heavy on the low, incridible punch for a 6 inch speaker

I have the yamha HS5, very useful for mid-high frequency and very precise concerning the stereo image. But it's a PITA when it comes to mix low frequencies, got to finish with the audio technica headphones

I am going for the KRK 6" as I don't want to buy a subwoofer. Also, many of the listeners crank up their bass anyway so it's relatively neutral.

The Yamaha HS seem to be the best bang for the buck when it comes to the most neutral representation of the audio, but as @slyte said, most people recommend a subwoofer for them.

There is a big difference between de normal krk 6 and the vxt version ...once i did listen to the vxt I forgot about the normal krk's

    CONFIRM!
I´ve got the nuPro A-200 (in white  )
    I love them
    I´ll never give them back

btw: I´ve got Alesis One Mk2 passive before them, so similar to yours therealdune (you´re Dune "Hardcore Vibes", are you?)

Hmmm very interesting, never heard of those. Will be doing some homework on those no doubt. I'm not sure what your asking, but yes I am " Dune" :D:thumbsup:. I make mostly boombap, chill lounge, jazzhop, I make a few hardcore vibes. How do you like your alesis for monitoring near field?

    @ theraldune:
my question was if you´re this: http://www.foreverdune.com/
it was a great Rave-project from Germany back in the 90s

and to your question: I liked my Alesis for years, but since I´ve switched from pure Hardware to nearly 95% VSTi I found out, that they´re too bad - so I did a lot of "homework" (as you describe) and found those lovely Nubert nuPro A-200

@ dasoli: ist auch meine Muttersprache und die Frage war halt an "therealdune" ob er zu dem Happy-Rave-Projekt "Dune" gehört

I've had a pair of PreSonus Sceptre S8's for a few months, and they amaze me almost every session. But... you would likely see more improvement by investing in some acoustic treatments before dropping too much on new monitors. Even just treating 1st reflection points and basic rear wall diffusion made a night and day difference for me.

The choice of monitors is a very individual matter as everybody can hear a bit different way so what I would suggest - go to some shop, take few tracks with you and listen them on few models.
