did you actually download and try the Logic Projects that i uploaded with a previous post? i uploaded two projects that enable you to record into Logic, all you have to d is put Maschine into MIDI Mode - **** + Control and click on the different INstruments in Logic to change which sounds in Maschine are being triggered.

there is no Object involved in this.

with this post i am uploading a Maschine MK2 Logic Transport Template. you will have to assign the keys in Logic using the method that AtlanticTrainer does in his video. all you have to do is to load it into the Controller Application.

Thank you! I'll try your project and the template ASAP. I did open your project, but I thought it was only for Logic instruments.

Thanks for your inquiry. I have not had anytime due to being slammed with beat making projects. But, I will get some time tomorrow to use your file to figure out what to do. I've been working, strictly in Maschine, so far.

I was able to "sort of" get this to work. Template 1 wouldn't do anything. But the Mackie template allowed me to get something out of the transport. I'm waiting to get a download of a Logic/Maschine template now and will try that with your sessions. I did spend some time on that too. I was able to setup my own session and setup the audio side of it in two ways. For the instrument sounds, I was able to send them out to stereo tracks along with the hi hats. The Kick and Snare I attempted to send out to their own mono channel, but they ended up eating two mono channels for some reason, but they work.

How it went down: I opened logic, then added an instrument track and ticked the multi timberal option.

I then selected the first track and added a maschine multi (8 stereo x8 mono).

I then added aux channels by clicking on the "+" sign of channel 1 in the mixer.

I then assigned each instrument group an aux channel.

I went into maschine and on each instrument's out, I selected a

I got granular with the drums and assigned the kick, snare & hats to different aux sends.

I was able to mix in Logic and it sounds better! But, I haven't figured out how to bound Maschine's session inside/thru Logic. I remember there being a way, but I can't remember which video I saw it on LOL!

I think, at this point, If I can make my beats in Maschine and have them play through Logic, I'm cool with that (for now). I assume I can just add audio tracks (mostly vocals) this way. I need to figure out how to bounce the Maschine plugin tracks after I'm done for rehearsal and what not.

I uploaded a Logic/Maschine project folder with two examples of using a multi version of Maschine in Logic where you record the MIDI in Logic and send it to Maschine.

Maschine needso to be in MIDI.

it would be nic e if you could try that and let me know if it works for you.

in terms of Outputs and AUXs please use the 16 x Stereo version of the Maschine plugin, as it is far easier to use.

nad why are you not using Drag n Drop Audio?

and btw you can in sort an Audio Track in Lodic and set iits Input to one of the Maschine Audio Tracks.

and please out courtesy, please download and try my Logic/Maschine Projects.

I did load your projects. When I set to midi mode and used the default template, the transport didn't work. The pads didn't either. I don't know why. That's why I was waiting to download another template to use in the controller app to see if that would clear things up, before "messing" with the settings you have in your Logic Project you emailed me.

i also uploaded a MK2 Template - in a later post - to control Logic, but you have to use Logic Keys Commands to learn the Key presses from the MK2. that is described in one of the videos by Atlantic Logic Trainer - or whatever his name is.

back to my original upload with 2 Logic projects and a Maschine project. this does not control Logic's transport, the Logic Projects are there to use Maschine in MIDI Mode to record MIDI into Logic. i would suggest that you must be doing something wrong. did you check that the Maschine Project loaded? did you click on the first 2 MIDI Tracks in Logic?

i really would appreciate you trying to get this to work.

Thanks again for your help! I will try your templates tomorrow, between sessions. I'll make a point to update you as soon as I finish with them.

When I made the "Altruwisdom: Integrating Maschine with Logic" video 2 years ago, my intention was to treat Maschine as permanent object in Logic similarly to how I use to work with the MPC and Logic Many years back. Although the method in that video works, there are caveats of the workflow, but as mentioned, it was simply an example of one way to work with Maschine inside of Logic.

Last year I released several update videos discussing using Maschine as Multitimbral instrument in Logic which doesn't make use of any environment access.

    [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gCOGxbpMH7c[/ame]

As sowari states, you don't have to use the Massive Template, I simply used that controller template at the time of the video since it was commonly included with Maschine MK1.

Thanks for this information. I'm going to be working on this and the information that Sowari gave me tonight after I figure out this side chain thing.

I would like to thank both of you for your help (Sowari/Altru)! Now everything is starting to click! I was able to get the transport to work and getting a good grasp of the multi timbral thing!

Hello guys- I've followed this thread as well as others on here and have watched both FMajors' and AtlantaLogicTrainer's vids backwards and forwards to try configure a live midi setup with Maschine 2.2 in Logic Pro 9 using my Mikro MK2- it hasn't worked. I've had issues with both methods but would like to work out FMajor's method: my issue is that when I go to play a group in midi mode Maschine is playing a keyboard sound pitched up the pads/keys and will do the same for a kick/drum sound if I have a group selected in Maschine that has a drum kit. I'm not sure if the fact I have a keyboard hooked up via midi in my interface has anything to do with this. Following FMajor's instructions, I created an object inside the environment and routed it to the mixer (As it said to do in the video-if you know a workaround other than this please reply) I control clicked and made the groups that were drum kits "Sounds to Midi Notes" and my two instrument sounds "Sounds to Midi Channels" (he suggests this in a follow up vid). I've tried to use Mikro mk2 in default midi mode (there is no mackie template) and even tried making my own template for the Mikro Mk2 mapped with Logic Key commands. Every root note inside maschine is at C1 for some reason and there is no change when I tried to pitch up my pad page for my drums to C3. There is no longer a root range option inside Maschine, only a starting note. Is there something I need to change at the sound level inside Maschine after making my groups either "Sounds to Midi Notes/Sounds to Midi Channels"? Must I create individual aux tracks or software tracks inside Logic to hear each individual sound in Midi Mode? I also cannot record any midi. Would love to make this work for 2.2 using my setup, as I haven't come across anyone who has made this work for the latest version. Thanks.

    @leslieg02

the key to getting this to work in the Group MIDI Input - for Drums - and the Sound MIDI Input - for Instruments. You need the MIDI to be 'Active'

    for the Drums:

I have uploaded the Logic Project with the Maschine Project in the folder.

Please note I am using Maschine 2.2.3.

THANK YOU @sowari for the explanation and project files! Definitely makes more sense. Two questions-should I disregard the "Sounds to Midi Channels/Notes" distinction in the Group Midi batch setup for the groups? I right clicked on each group in your Maschine project and saw they were all set to Sounds to Midi Channels. Also, I tried to record in Logic on the external midi tracks inside your project after assigning the corresponding channel for each group in Maschine and could not record any midi. Do I need to set up aux tracks or duplicate instrument tracks for the external midi channels inside Logic (How can I record midi with the external channels)?

Thank you again for your help!

the Sounds To MIDI Notes/Channels is there for when you export MIDI into a DAW, Sounds To MIDI Channels is the default setting.

i'll check your other point later - i didn't try to record but the sounds definitely played if i switched my Maschine Mikro MK2 to MIDI Mode.

are you switching to MIDI Mode?

i have checked and if you switch Maschine into MIDI Mode - which you have to do if you want to record into Logic - it works.

please press SHIFT + F1, to put your Maschine Controller into MIDI Mode. hold down the GROUP button, and press the blue Pads to change Octaves. if you press Pad C, you should get the correct octave for drums, with a Root Note of C1 for Pad 1.

I did it, it works :) thanks again. Is there a way to split the drum track into separate channels for each drum sound to control the sound levels? I right clicked on the midi region in logic and selected "separate by midi channel" but nothing happened.

load a Multi-Output version of the Maschine plugin - my Project already has that.

use the Sound Audio Outputs in the Maschine software to select individual Outputs.

click on the small plus on the mixer channel where Maschine is to create mor Outputs for the Logic mixer.

    see the pics:
