    Hi all,

I am usually running Traktor Scratch Pro(latest) version on my 2009 macbook laptop ut several months ago it refused to start(logic board the likely culprit as confirmed by the Genius Bar folks).

So I decided to move my Traktor environment over to a backup Windows 10 pc until I can get another mac. I read the thread about moving from pc to mac and decided to take a crack at reverse engineering the process for mac to pc..

The steps I took to try this are listed below and they seem to be solid. However in the course of step 7 below, the pc laptop crashed. I restarted the process, the import process completed successfully but I found that I had a lot of tracks with track titles but no artist, timing, bpm, and stripe information available.

At this time I'm not sure that importing the collection again will fix the trax with the missing information but if anyone has ideas on how this can be accomplished without corrupting the trax that already have all of their information successfully imported, please let me know as I am going to try and update this thread into a step by step procedure for moving from mac to pc as I could not find anything on the NI website.

Just as a side gripe, here are enhancements I'd like to see incorporated into Traktor:
    1) The ability to specify a specific search string in the search box that will search for a specific group of words: 'my head' instead of every song that has the words 'my' or 'head'.
    2) When the consistency check is run, it would be nice to be able to open up a screen where u can open a bigger window or screen of the missing trax along with the last known location of the track including the file name. Then give the user the option to run a search of the database and update the location of the missing track similar to the re-locate function or export the list to a .csv file that can then be imported into Excel for later research and resolution. The program should give the user the option to keep running this function as long as the use wants while updating the screen after each succesfull file re-location.
I would like to be able to export out any combination of the tabs generated when the consistency check report is run. The information to be exported should include all the information generated by the report along with a full path to the problem files, including the last reported location of the problem files.

I have other enhancement ideas but can't think of them right now bu they will be coming and I'll update them in this thread.

Anyway, here are the steps I took to move my traktor mac collection over to a windows 10 pc while I save up for another macbook pro laptop below:

    1) Copy the root traktor folder from Mac OSX(X:/users/username/documents/native instruments/traktor x.x.x(where x.x.x is the latest version of the software)
to Windows(Y:/users/username/documents/native instruments/traktor x.x.x(where x.x.x is the latest version of the software).

Note: X: and Y: are the root directories of the drives being processed.

    2) When done, start up Traktor and then open up the preferences panel.

    3) Go to the file management option and de-select the 'import music folders at startup' option.

    4) Now shut down Traktor.

    5) Re-start Traktor.

    6) Right-click on the 'Track Collection' folder.

    7) Select 'Import another collection'

    8) Go to the newly copied root folder copied from step 1 above and click 'ok'.

    9) During processing, click on 'Collection' when asked about file tag differences.

    10) Right-click on the 'Track Collection' folder.

    11) Select 'Run consistency check' to check for any missing trax and re-locate the trax.

At the end of these steps, you should have a mirror image of your mac setup up and running on your pc.

Again I did this thru trial and error as I reversed the instructions used for the 'pc to mac' move. Any help or suggestions on my issues as well as refining this 'mac to pc' process are welcome.

    Thanks,

Hm. The collection itself contains path informations. My guess would be that the differences between Mac and Win systems are the root of the issue here. What happens if you just copy the collection file to the new place and then start TRAKTOR?

I don't know but I may try that and see if it resolves the issue. This is only a temporary status until I can buy another macbook Pro laptop. I'm going to try that this weekend and will update this thread with the results.

But it may take awhile as I have over 500,000 tracks and counting in the collection. As Arnold has said, 'i'll be back:thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup:.
