So I am a PC guy who got his first MBP. I keep my data collection on an external drive. After i installed and opened in my MAC, my collection is pretty jacked on the PC. It opens fine but the paths are all missing the : in the path name... Is there some solution to be able to use the exact same collection on both a PC and Mac? I don't think the find/replace thing is a great idea for normal usage. This thread didn't seem to answer my question.

    Any help is appreciated.

I know this question was asked quite some time ago, but just in case you still haven't arrived at the answer or any one else reading this thread has the same issue:
I removed those persistent favorites by editing the Traktor Settings.tsi file.

I just opened the .tsi file in TextEdit did a search for "Browser.Shortcuts" ( there should only be one occurrence ) and simply delete from the text that reads: "$PLAYLIST/yourplaylistname".
Leave the trailing semi colon in place. Save the .tsi restart Tracktor and that location should now be "not Assigned". If in doubt be sure to make a backup copy of the .tsi file before making any edits. It just a good practice anyway.

Drive quirks aside, did anyone suggest the Export/Import Collection options? A simple right click on the Top-level "Track Collection" in the browser lends you that option. I believe this is how my collection was switched over to Mac, nothing with actually relocating the files.

Does the KB method take care of stripes/cue points?

My mp3 collection is currently on an external hard drive, I'd intended to import it into iTunes on a macbook and let iTunes do it's thing creating folder structure.
Then, after importing the backed up Traktor Scratch Pro collection file, run the relocate function to match up the TSP data with the tracks in the iTunes music folder.

im gonna get my mbp next week,
From reading this therad, the copying of my old traktor folder from pc to mac dosent seem to work, am i correct?
So what im planning to do is to transfer all my mp3s to an external hd then transfer it all to the new mbp, planning to do a fresh start.
please correct me if im wrong, im gonna install the tsp installer i downloaded from n.i. (tsd upgrade to tsp) to the mbp. Install the audio 4 driver.
put all my mp3s to track collection,
Do i need to analyze all my files again?
    ill create new playlists,
will all my old cue points be deleted?
all the info on my mp3s that i edited in tsp in my old pc will still be recognized on the tsp in mac right?
I have all my individual playlists and collection in my pc exported and saved,
If ever, Can i transfer this to the mbp and import some old playlists and collection to tsp?

Knowledge Base articles are protected. You need to login to access them.
Search the KB on: How to transfer, move or copy the TRAKTOR collection

You will find what your looking for.

    I'm in the same situation...
... switched from pc to mac, now every track is duplicated when loading into deck.
so i recognized after a few days of working that my collection almost doubled up,
i deleted the second collection entry of any track, but nothing changed. still duping every track when loading into deck.
the only difference between the two track-details i recognized, is that the comment/comment2-tagfields do not apply to the "old track" only in new.
but this may be more an assume, than a fact...

luckily, i have a backup of whole traktor-folder... so I'll trial & error the next days...

and at last i have to say that i switched my current collection from pc to mac and back a few times with no problems at all. these switches were made with v1.2.2 & 1.2.4. problems occured while using 1.2.7!

so all of you thinking about switching from pc to mac should try with earlier versions!

    Knowledgebase Article worked great.

I had recently (Februaryish) bought my first Mac, and was in the process of transitioning my library from Windows to OSX. After reading through this thread, I had very little confidence that my end result would be good.

I just wanted to give a little confidence to future "switchers" and state that the transition went absolutely smooth. I did not encounter any of the bizarre issues people have written about.

Follow the guide EXACTLY at https://co.native-instruments.com/k...sts and settings from one computer to another

Hopefully you have as good of luck as I did.

    Hi folks,

This post is kinda old, but anyway, talking about filesystem formats, MacOSX Snow Leopard (I'm using version 10.6.7) can read/write from/to exFat partitions, which is compatible with most versions of Windows (not all, but the newer ones, like XP as far as I remember).

So I formatted my external HD (which I use only for backups) with this format and so far everything is working fine, both operating systems can deal with it.

is this faster than using usb to usb? if so, any idea how much faster is it?

it has never crossed my mind to use a direct lan connection for file transfer. only via wireless. aint it strange how lan gets overlooked these days?

    Hi Tribal Techno,

exFat is not the same as fat32 and yes, it can handle files with which are greater than 4 gb.

For more info on exFat, go to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ExFAT ;)

    Hi,

This may be a slight irrelevant/newbie question but I'm thinking of making the switch from PC to Mac. Is there any implication for the software installation? Do you have to buy a mac version?

    Thanks in advance,
