PEOPLE WITH TRACK DUPLICATION ISSUES after importing collection

Make sure when you click to relocate your files - that you select the right file path

I selected 'My music' folder when i should have selected the folder it was contained in 'Desktop'

therefore my file path was showing up as
    Users/My music/My music/ etc..
and were duplicated to try correct the filepath

    all working fine now

    HI all,

I need some knowledge thrown down on me.

Recently one of my Multi Core Cables went out on me in the middle of a set. I ordered a new set, but I was curious how would I go about hook everything up without Traktor's Multi Core Cables?

I'm ON a Stanton M207 Mixer, 2 Stonton T92 TurnTables, and an Audio 10 Interface.

NTFS is a big no no on a Mac. A Mac can read and not write on NTFS (vanilla) there are apps that you can write NTFS on a Mac however you will need use your processor, and it will add in a level of latency.

I always use HFS+ (Mac Jornalled), however this will not show up on a PC unless you have an application on the PC, (each time you plug it into a PC it will promt you to format the disc).

As long as you are not intending to store large movies or DJ sets on the HDD your best bet would be probably be Fat32 for an external HDD as this would enable you to connect to a PC and a MAC (and PS3 etc)....... I have found that even though all of the computers in my home ar Mac's, situations will arise when someone pops over with a PC and it will be a bit of a bind not being able to connect the drive.

The one thing to remember is that there is a limit for individual file sizes for a Fat32 drive of 4GB (I think, I might be wrong it could be 2GB), however this would be about a 2hour track in WAV and maybe 3hr FLAC.....

You don't need their cables - just buy yourself a bunch of RCA cables and hook them up - turntable or cd player into the soundcard, then one from the out of the soundcard into the line of the mixer :)

    Please help!
I have a strange problem with duplication. It's duplicate a track only when I searching it in a track collection, otherwise when i play a track from playlist or a music folder it's ok and no duplicate.
When I remove my collection to a new mac from pc I put it in folder Macintosh HD/Music. So when I relocate it in traktor I select path Macintosh HD/Music. Everything works fine besides when I searching a track in collection and play it duplicates.
In traktor preferences in file management I select a music folder: Macintosh HD/Music

    I had the same problem.
I was also sure i use correct paths.
Did not get the clue that makes everything work, so I started building a new collection.
Lot's of work and still in progress...

I'm curious if someone will find the answer to this problem.

If anyone is trying to use BOTH a PC & Mac with the same Traktor collection (e.g., a PC at home but a Macbook while DJing), PM me. I have successfully done this and continue to do this, and took me many weeks of toiling to sort it out.

Nice writeup. Just wanted to say that it's not a "problem" per se. This is by design. They are different operating systems. The technical explanations are available on Wikipedia.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Volume_(computing)#Unix-like_operating_systems

I would also recommend users ONLY modify the collection.nml file on the Mac. If you edit the file in a text editor in Windows first, you may end up with control characters and may require another utility such as dos2unix.
