Best ways to use reaktor as a plugin when sending MIDI from Reaktor on more than one MIDI Channel

Bidule seems to have a decent array of low-ish level midi and sound processing in its inbuilt modules. Even to the level of supplying individual midi modules or vsts with a desired midi time clock. It takes more time to set up a basic functioning "ensemble" but ultimately it is a more powerful setup than something like ableton live. Im not discarding ableton live, though I can see it definitely has its place in creating a certain type of composition. Now that I am getting more adventurous, I think I will get reaper and bidule under my belt too.

Abelton has its pro's, but Reaper make any type of routing manouvere you can dream of a total breeze.

While you are the subject of Bidule, I was using it recently to do 'offline' MIDI recording by setting up a MIDI recorder within Bidule AU wired to output of Reaktor VST and doing na offline bounce in Logic 9.

Can anyone point me to ANY info on how to 'lock' the MIDI recorder in Bidule to Logic's transport so I don't have to start/stop manually? I find references involving note extraction and parameter mod's and such but never straight forward details on simply making it start and stop based on host transport (trying to assign via drop-down option in Bidule for actual recorder module never seems to work as it just waits and doesn't respond to any CC's I send).

    Thanks in advance

    Hi
You can link the play button in sync transport to the record button in file recorder using the parameter link function and that stops and starts the recording(you may have to assign a file first…can't remember)
I have had the play/stop also working via midi control.I'm in the middle of something else at the moment but if you have further problems i can look out the layout file latter.
hope this is of some help

Thanks mpl! That's the info I was looking for (especially pic) ;-) I will give it a try this morning.

The link from 'Sync Transport' to 'Recording' works great…but what locks the 'Sync Transport' to Logic's transport outside the Bidule AU? I can't seem to get the 'Sync Transport' to learn anything as a trigger??

Sorry for delay in getting back to you on this…work etc..
The only way i have found achieve this was to assign a controller to start the sync transport which in turn starts the recorder and then in logic assign that controller to play/stop. so at the end of the day one button starts logic and sync transport/midi recorder. Its a bit of a workaround and will only work from the controller not onscreen transport controls(or mmc)

I was wanting this facility too so i posted on the bidule forum and got a working answer(see screenshot) I might try and refine it a bit a record armed switch may be useful and some other controls for the recorder(i'm new to bidule) if these things are possible.
    hope this works for you

Thanks so much mpl for all your posts/pics/ and follow up...I will try out here.

I had come across references to the 'Parameter Mod' as a possible part of solution on the Plogue forums but nothing more than vague references within larger synth constructions, your pics should hopefully clear up that vagueness into a workable solution...appreciate it!

btw, to be clear, in your last post/solution...are you still needing to connect Logic's transport to the CC external control of your Nano to trigger or would engaging Logic's transport and having a CC trigger via MIDI track on Bidule instrument track be enough? (that's what I could never seem to get working, a CC 'pulse' MIDI region on Bidule track wouldn't get recognized either by the Bidule 'Learn' functions or direct assignment...in theory it shouldn't be any different than an external CC incoming but it would just sit there and stare at me doing nothing like, 'you dummy' lol).

In the last post(the one with parameter mod) you don't need to assign a controller to logic transport. It will stop and start with the logic transport,no need for a trigger track. The only thing to watch out for is it will overwrite your recorded midi file if you stop and start,I've ticked the rename option,so each stop/start creates a new file.
I'm looking forward to exploring reaktor in bidule and 3rd party plug ins.I just need to finnish my sequencer project first(nearly there).

Thanks again, working here now ;-)

It's a real education, even an 'offline bounce' of the MIDI using straight 1/8 notes shows how 'loosie-goosie' Reaktor's timing can be even in the case of a simple, MIDI-only ensemble asked to produce contiguous, unchanging duple timed notes (IAC Bus, your'e off the hook).

Thank goodness for offline bouncing, quantizing, and MIDI 'Transform' functions in Logic (even the note lengths appear to be erratic!), at least it streamlines the process of correcting this 'looseness'...makes me want to pull out my Atari STe (though it wouldn't have a clue how to read a table of integer sequences like Reaktor can lol ;-)
