I've just bought Behringer Guitar USB Link UCG102 with Native Instruments Guitar Combos. As Behringer says "The UCG102 guitar-to-USB interface lets you jam and record using modeling amps and effects without the need for any other gear but your guitar."
    This is bulls##t!
Combos work perfectly, but you can not record the sound from the combo! Just clean guitar. Additionally combos don't work as plugins to Cubase, Reaper and any other music software.
This software is useless unless you have Apple Garabe Band as I read in some posts here.
Do not trust to Behringer! They're just normal thieves.

You bought an audio interface. It works as such.
It came with free "Guitar Combos", which don't work as plug-ins.
You could use any DAW and ANY plug-in with it.

    Marc,
The problem is that I've bought this interface just to record some bluesy/distorted guitar. I'm not a musician/producer, I have no studio, DAWs, plugins etc... Behringer says that I can record my guitar "without the need for any other gear but your guitar"
    that's all!
    Sorry but it's a fraud!
I'm always trying to get some infos about the products I'm interested in. It helps me to choose an optimal solution. If I knew it - I'd never bought it! See other posts - I'm not the only one disappointed.

Since when? I'm runnign guitar combos as a VST in Cubase. Are they only being distributed as stand-alones now?

Behringer sells them with USB Guitar Interface. click here

There's similar device, made by M-Audio, JamLab - this interface works as standalone and as VST - and all these infos are clearly described. (check this) I wish I had bought JamLab! No more Behringer

Yes. Behringer chose not to bundle a real copy of Combos. It's their own edition, which does not have a plug-in equivalent.

I read a review of the Behringer USB guitar that said that the Guitar Combos were included and you got to get the full version of one of them (your favourite).....

So it would make sense that standalone versions of all are included, but you can then get the full (VST Plugin) version of your favourite amp.

So therefore it IS a full recording system, once you choose what Guitar Combo you want. I can't remember whether it was SoundOnSound, Music Tech or Computer Music but it was in one of those three magazines that I read this.

Someone correct me if I/the magazine am/is wrong.

Have no fear my friend, having re-read your post I think i may be able to help. Tou need what we call a 'sequencer'. It's a piece of software that allows you to record the music you're playing to your hard drive. Goggle search for Reaper - it's free, and should get you started.

    Thank you friends.
I have downloaded full version of my favourite combo using the coupon ID attached.
Duke Nukem used to say "**** happens" in such cases ;)
I've tried Kristal. I was even in local radio station sound studio where we were trying to find the solution.
Maybe someone knows where is the clue but for now I'll pin up Behringer logo on my darts target.

You should still be able to record, though only with the combo of your choice.

As I wrote earlier: I can record with my one, chosen combo, downloaded from NI site. But I can only record clean sound - without distrotion, reverb etc. I can only hear an amp simulation.
There's a "Tape deck" module in standalone version (see picture) - it produces wav file while recording but without effects. Maybe there is someone who know how to do it with this software? I asked Behringer support for some help but "sh##t happens"

The tape deck records the audio without effects.
You can play it through the rig, and use something like "Audio Hijack" to steal the audio.

You're using what's called 'direct monitoring'. The sound coming out is the sound going in, unaltered. Annoying for this kind of thing but prevents latency or the lag in processing.
